I actually went outdoors today, to see my friend Michelle play guitar and sing at an alternative energy fest on the waterfront in Beacon. As the event was right at the Beacon Metro-North station, I took the train down from Poughkeepsie. It was shockingly convenient. It is my understanding that police in Britain have access to all sorts of weapons, but the average, everyday PC doesn't carry them routinely. Do you really believe that, or are you just being a contrarian? Look. I know teenagers can be dumb - (sorry, kids) I was one once - and getting into a school like MIT is no guarantee of intelligence. But I cannot fathom how anyone could not think they might cause a ruckus walking into an airport with something like that around her neck. And how do you explain the playdough? Even if her intent was totally innocent, which I will never believe, she should do a year or so in the pen. Maybe she'll learn something about common sense.

See, that's the thing. He was on the ground, sure. But were the cops really in control? Did they feel they were in control? How did they know that this kid wasn't all highed up on PCP? The team could use a batting coach that gets results. Seems like the whole team, save Wright, fell off before the All-Star break. Delgado has been a millstone all year. Beltran is not as good as we hoped he would be. Second base has been an issue, as has all the outfield injuries. Mr. Pees-on-His-Hands has been awesome, but he's never healthy all the time. Sigh. And I do a better job managing a bullpen in Strat-o-Matic than Willie does in real life. He's not gonna get fired, but one could make an argument. Get Bobby V. on a plane back to Flushing.

No. I think the team is just totally tight now, holding on for dear life. When you put pressure on yourself to perform perfectly, often you insure an imperfect performance.

I am moderately excited about the Rangers.

I find the Burnsian style a bit precious at times, but I will watch this.
