Probably because they made shitty U.S. loans.

All youse who are bitching about the bailout realize what would happen if the banking system of this country was allowed to collapse? A depression? Do you really want that? Really? Swear on a stack of Bibles?

Well, Cutler apparently feels he was lied to by the organization about how hard the Broncos were going after Matt Cassell and he knows Cassell was the new coach's strong preference. There is talk of bringing Cutler to the Jets, but he'd better get a little less sensitive if he's going to play in New York.

Dude, I didn't expect to be consulted on ANY system they set up, and I certainly don't think THEY have any overwhelming allegiance to Los Estados Unidos or any other country. Do you need to go look at the Ned Beatty scene in "Network" again? The U.S. Constitution is a beautiful thing, but it doesn't, apparently, guarantee the capitalist system will always work in our favor. -
Not really a fan of Feist, but she has a nice voice, I think.

Considering the porousness of the U.S.-Canadian and U.S.-Mexican border, we're kind of one country anyway. If it means better Canadian weed and better Mexican food, then I am all for it. I love America and I love being American, but geez Louise, if this world is actually going to make it, we all have to start working together more and stop standing on hills with our flags saying our way or no way. My Spanish is bad, but my French is OK. -

Hugs and vibes, Ellen. You seem like an awfully nice and thoughtful person, and I hope you find someone you can grow and become better with! -
Dude, I don't want to be hostile, but my comparison was well-considered, not lazy. I will continue to call 'em as I see 'em, no matter how many times you post that Kitler pic. Technically, I am fulfilling, not violating the above-referenced law so

Just to keep you all up to date, I bought TWO copies of "The Mountain" today, and gave them both away, as birthday presents to a pair of brothers whose birthdays were Wednesday and Friday. Since I am now out of money for such things until Friday, I will have to wait to get a copy for myself.

I have completed step one of this, but am well into step three of "birth, school, work, death." -

As far as I am concerned, anyone can call those who identify themselves as journalists on the carpet at any time. Stewart walks a fine line, to be sure, but he's got a right to say his thing and as long as the information upon which he bases his commentary is accurate, I don't have a problem with it. Now, in the defense of journalists, I will point out that the derivatives which apparently caused the problem were so complex that not even Greenspan, apparently, could understand the danger. If people who were supposedly the most expert of the expert couldn't get a handle on it, it was unrealisti -

To be honest, I never cottoned to the whole day-trader DIY thing. It reminds me of the "a person who is their own lawyer has a fool for a client" thing. Still, American business journalism really fell down on this. WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. -

Car Talk is the one thing on NPR I can actually listen to without getting vaguely annoyed. -

I think on the macro level, journalism has really failed this country in this decade. We totally fucked the tree on Iraq, and we totally fucked the tree on this, to the severe detriment of the well-being of the United States of America. -

Hey, Dow was up TWO DAYS IN A ROW! Happy days are here again! -
You were not. I figure if they would actually send a buncha CDs to a guy named "Zog J. Interloper," why the hell not? Oh, and the little record album cover stamps that Columbia House had back in the '70s were pretty awesome.

Just posting it is enough.

It takes two to tango, but making that movie was mildly sociopathic.

Yes. That movie is way underrated.

Lucas has a sadistic streak - how about that scene in Revenge of the Sith where Anakin finds the kindergartner Jedis?
