  1. You're not one of those people, but that is the gist of your advice regardless. I am not naive enough to believe that I don't have it good, but I do believe, naivety or not, that I could have it just as good dozens (or hundreds) of other places. America, like it or not, is quick becoming one of those jokes that we don't get to be in on.
  2. I am torn between outrage and complacency. In my lifetime, at least my semi-politically aware adult lifetime, America hasn't done anything good, so this kind of thing is just another roll-eyes and change the channel moment. I don't know how to do anything different and feel like it is going to accomplish anything.
  3. Outside of the personal hygiene part and with greater emphasis on the teenage girls part, this kind of sounds like the life for me. A modern viking. Oh, and I'm glad to see that whole abstinence only thing really powering through to great success.
  4. American Gladiators when Celebrity Family Feud is on!?
  5. Dick Cheney will move to a castle and drink fine wine from the skulls of Iraqi children. Or at least that is how I imagine this all ending.
  6. My favorite part of this story is that the EPA caved. They let them get away with refusing to open the email. Unbelievable.
  7. I didn't say you thought that. I used hyperbole to make the point that Obama has been forced to make his campaign more about religion than it probably would have been were these unfounded rumors not swirling around. But I, on a personal level, agree with you. Obama and James Dobson can shut up any day now about their faith. The problem for both of them, of course, is that their jobs kind of depend on them bringing it up.
  8. Obama would probably use it a lot less if half of the country wasn't stupid enough to believe that he was a secret Muslim (which, I guess, roughly translates to terrorist) sent here to bring down capitalism from the inside out.
  9. I am all of those things all the time.
  10. I keep trying to like this, and I might yet, but right now it just sounds like Jock Jams!, vol. 8. I can see middle school dance teams eating this shit up.
  11. Yeah, that was my concern. Good news. I like Mike Mogis more than I like Conor Oberst.
  12. What is the story with all of that? Mogis dropped off of that last Bright Eyes tour somewhere and David Rawlings took his place. I never figured out why. Never really looked into it, either....
  13. Would anybody like to do the PM thing? I just got into their last record.... EDIT: Dones.
  14. That was my point. The question being, how do you quantify evil? How do you preach moral superiority on the grounds that you (obviously this is a generic you, not Ikol) oppose something like a same sex marriage or an abortion while enabling war crimes or raping your children's future to save a dollar or two?
  15. Also, can somebody explain to me why torture and telling people that we don't torture while torturing, starting wars for unfounded reasons, destroying the economy, etc. is all morally wonderful, while abortion and/or gay marriage weighs down the conscience of the morally superior faux-conservative?
  16. That is great. This is also great, though a rip off of those Chuck Norris things from a few years back:
  17. I'd take the Kobe that scored 83 in a game if I had a choice. Other than that, Jordan every time.
  18. I missed most of the second half due to severe weather alerts cutting the broadcast, but I'd imagine it would have been pretty amazing if I wasn't a Lakers fan.
  19. It looked like it for about a half tonight. Not so much anymore.
  20. I have figured that the NBA was partially rigged for years. It's not always the kind of blanket rigging that this guy is accusing them of (though I wouldn't be surprised by that either, honestly), but what about something like those so-called "Jordan rules"? Maybe that isn't conscious rigging, but they do make certain that the team with the superstar has a handicap, and, obviously, the team with superstar also makes the NBA several times more money. Oh, and go Lakers. They have played like shit. I figure they'll get it together sometime here, but maybe not.
