  1. Yes and no. The theatrics are typically more spread out, but Kevin doesn't usually seem so tense. Seems like he's really nervous or something.
  2. I know a certain Iowan who wishes he was.
  3. He told me this at the basement show this year, the first part..
  4. Some Weird Al cassette was the first thing I bought with my own money, but I had tons of stuff from my older siblings. Neil Diamond was my first concert.
  5. Pretty awesome that there is a war in Iraq but when I check the paper all I see is shit about Don Imus, Dice-K, and whoever the hell fathered Anna Nicole's baby.

    a hunch...

I got my ticket! Thanks, Kris!
  7. This is the kind of shit that makes me long for a job somewhere warm come May. It never ceases to amaze me just how much I despise winter.
  8. The problem with the review is that the guy acts like it is Oberst's fault that journalists describe him the way they do. I mean, the guy can't really help that he started making music when he was young, that he got asked to be on the vote for change tour, that lazy journalists can't come up with anything better than the next-Dylan tag-line. So he spends his time deriding him for a ton of shit he can't help and then attacks him on the basis of not living up to those demands. Like Bright Eyes of hate Bright Eyes, the review is one of the worst reviews I have ever read of anything.
  9. That review is hilariously bitter, too. Check it out sometime.
  10. I thought the score was right on, maybe a point too high. What I didn't understand, however, was that they praised all the tracks that I find ridiculously bad while hating on everything I like. Interesting, indeed.
  11. I haven't noticed them at all.
  12. Fights his prescription drug addiction to record Sky Blue Sky? Lame. Three years late, EW. And two edits: 1) My dad signed a contract with me to quit smoking when I was five. I'm 23 and my dad still smokes. I should trade him in for Tweedles. 2) I don't get how you would see the new songs as being pessimistic...
  13. I get up and walk across my bedroom to turn off my alarm and very rarely remember doing it. I snooze an average of ten times every morning.
  14. I had not thought about that, but the song fro the Katrina benefit CD that Saddle Creek did is really good. Called "Napolean's Hat" and is definitely about Katrina, obviously.
  15. Jeff and I are going camping along the Mississippi. He's got a new homemade spice rub he wants me to try out.
  16. I think Digital Ash and this latest one are the least consistent of the bunch. Favorite songs? I don't really know exactly... right off the top of my head: Arc of Time, I Believe in Symmetry, Calendar Hung Itself, Attempt to Tip the Scales, Tereza & Tomas, Make War, Well Whiskey, Blue Angels Air Show.....as a rule, I like a lot of b-sides better than album tracks though I'm not showing that here.
  17. Not terribly surprised by this, but none of your favorite Bright Eyes songs are on my list of favorite Bright Eyes songs. I do like Let's Not Shit Ourselves though.
  18. I am pretty certain that Mr. Oberst did a lot of cocaine in there sometime. Digital Ash is seemingly 99% inspired by the drug.
