Odd music day for me yesterday. I saw Paul Simon speak at the Barnes and Nobel in Union Square yesterday. I also picked up a signed copy of his new lyrics book which is neat. Paul played some songs too along with the discuss including the first song He and Garfunkel wrote "The Girl for Me" Which he and Garfunkel made when he was 12! That was quite a treat and I am certian it probably is never played live. Later he talked about the beginings of Sound of Silence and how "Hello darkenss my old friend" was a joke line he wrote because he recorded the song in his parents bathroom with the lights of

Huh...please elaborate?

I see what you are saying but the insentive to save money dissapears (Sure I would like the artist to get more of the money if that is the case but the other side of it is I rather save the service charge and pocket it myself)...Wouldn't this lead to more traffic on the webpage when the shows go on sale. I hope they put some money into easing onsale internet traffic. Why do I have to wait on a virtual line for minutes?!

Disgusting bait and switch from TM again... http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2008...tmaster_ex.html Now there are no insentives to go to the box office. Basically it is the same prices as before just you won't get the initial shock you normally would when you try and check out and purchase the tickets in the final step.

Anyone watching The Amazing Race this season?
remphish1 replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Kelly and Christy were also the sloppiest players on the show of all time. They never read any of the clues and were helpless. I am suprised they made it so far. Ken and Tina would be my second choice. They seem to play the game right but are not doing anything that stands out. -
I am a huge fan of the Amazing Race. I watch it every season (except for that silly family version) anyway I feel no connection to the teams this year. Really no stand outs. That being said I feel Nick and Starr will be the winners. I am usually pretty good at calling the winners(I usually make the call by the third episode). I think I have been right 4 out of the last 6 times...thoughts, opinions...

It is so hard to draw a line I really feel they shouldn't have bailed out anyone....but we are already on the slippery slope....it is going to be hard for the government to say no when all of these essential industries line up for a handout....
-
I would be pissed if that happened to me if I were in the audience! Then again I wouldn't be at a Darkstar show Guy is from the next town over from me...oye.

I am concerned about the hundreds of thousand of people employeed by the big 3. Not sure in what capacity we should help but it seems unfair to bail out Fannie, Freddie, AIG and not the car industry. Either all or nothing right?

Daisies of the Galaxy!! I also really think Shootnany is accessable too. I just wouldn't start with Electro Shock Blues.....very depressing album. You really can't go wrong with any of their albums but those two are the most accessable. Do yourself a favor though and catch the Eels on tour if you can. Their shows are highly unpredictable and E is a hoot! If you are looking for a top 10 songs to start on here is what I recommend 1. Mr. E's Beautiful Blues 2. Somebody Loves You 3. Flower 4. Mental 5. Saturday Morning 6. PS You Rock My World 7. Fresh Feeling 8. Railroad Man 9. It's a Motherfu

How long did you wait in line to vote?
remphish1 replied to Serak_the_Preparer's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Only 2 people in front of me at 345PM in Hoboken, NJ! Voting feels good! -
From the picture of MCCain voting doesn't it look like he is putting his vote in the blue color coded box? It looks as if he is voting for Obama?!
-
I think we are not going to know tonight. I think by tomorrow morning it will be confirmed for Obama. I think with all the long lines some states will extend voting hours and thus tallying will go on way past midnight. Oregon will be a stragler just like last election.

One thing I vowed to do was not to go cheap on bedding. A good bed is worth its weight in gold. So taking my own advice I went to Bloomingdales and spent $1800 on a qualty queen size mattress. Best $1800 I ever spent (The name of the mattress though slips me now). Also Bloomingdales had a program that you can test out the beds for 30 days or so. If you don't like it you can get another bed (Some cathes though forget what) Some additional food for thought. The salesman told me the Rolls Royce of beds is the Shifman? The Queen Shiftman was $15,000! I layed down on it for one minute and boy o b

Great suggestion! Did this too. Suprisingly there are no sites on the list within about 10 miles or so of the house! Suprisingly for NJ that is... -
