  1. You could come, and sing a few rounds of Kumbaya with us, then get a room for the night.
  2. Are you coming to the Chix Campout night?
  3. I don't talk about those days any more. Occasionally my picture pops up in unexpected places.
  4. A fortuitous meeting at the printer has put me in touch with el hefe of the Water Gardening Society, who happens to live one block away with his peacocks. More kismet. Jess...start pursuing other avenues of work. Alot of years can get down the road before you know it.
  5. There are mantes and walking sticks everywhere now. Sarah even had a mantis on her backpack the other morning. I love them. Jimmy, Duet For Guitars will blow your mind. He has the abilty to sound at once ancient and completely modern. I seriously have listened to little else this summer.
  6. Kismet! He is not coming anywhere near me in the foreseeable future, so with your permission, I will live vicariously through your experience. And his cover of Let's Dance is one of the best covers. Evah. Thanks for sharing.
  7. viatroy, was that a controversial post that you deleted?
  8. Jusy a thought on the psychotic female thing...You can't attract what you don't possess.
  9. Oh! Nice snag! Freudian slip, I guess. When I was checking my look, Grace Jones did cross my mind. I lived with an artist during the 80s, and my look was well photographed. I'm fairly certain of a Halloween photo that was all Catherine Deneuve in the Hunger. Mmm hmm: Yeah, I lived through the 80s by wearing 40s and 50s vintage.
  10. The shoulder pads have been safely extracted and the lining resown as if it had never been breached. No construction was damaged in the process, and it looks better than ever.
  11. Actually I was hoping you might weigh in on the shoulder pad question.
  12. Good to know. My problem is, I'm reading a book that I don't really want to finish because it is so good. I eschewd another book to start this one, and if I start the Chabon, that will be three books going at the same time, and, and...
  13. String trimmers. I have the T-18, which I don't think they manufacture anymore. Go here to compare features. I compared by weight, as landscaping is my profession, and carry mine around a bit more than most folks would. The little Shindaiwa engines are roundly praised by professional landscapers. The Shindaiwa are 2-cycle engines. Maybe all string trimmers are...
  14. All of your hard work is paying off. Congrats, Tom! Fantastic news! I'm so jealous. Have a great time tonight.
  15. Dear caliber, Over the weekend I bought a beautiful vintage wool Dior riding jacket. The problem is, it has shoulder pads. I have wide shoulders as it is, and consider shoulder pads overkill. I cut them out of all of my clothing, even during the 80s. What with 80s fashion coming back in style, should I cut them out of my new jacket as well? Still debating, Fashion-sense bereft in the midwest
  16. When we start talking about old tractors again, we will really be exposing our geekiness. Having said that... Shindaiwa is really the way to go. I have had mine 12 years, without a problem.
