Strange Fruit

yeah geez, don't do that ever again, ok? I rely on you to be ahead of the indie curve and it is frankly embarrassing when we have to re-tell you about a band. Ladyhawk - S/T as well Meet me outside the state in the rain Your Momma's a bitch I don't care what she thinks Of me

Take your Styx and BTO Come and hit the road my honey

answering this post with this post I ODed on the 1st 4 songs while listening to their myspace page. Happy to say that the rest of the cd holds up really really well. That song about building an island is fantastic.

Oh my lordy, of my honey I don't believe you stole that money But if I find out you get rich I'll take my share And you won't bitch about it.

Very very good, with a lot of Matt (the lead singer) collapsing into emotional fits about the stage. I like it, but the people I brought to the concert where a bit put off.

Me, I like the first cd the most and it's sorta nice that we all can't agree on which release is best. Sure sign of quality. The Cherry Tree Ep with a Tom Waits like drunken sing along in 'A Reasonable Man' is also worth picking up. You should check out the videos of Vincent Moon. I think he did 'Daughters of the Soho Riots', 'Abel' and 'Lit Up' for the band and then is producing some DVD that I hope is a bonus on the new cd. http://mathieu.saura.free.fr/site/nuit/index.html Love them and all the concert footage he seems to have http://mathieu.saura.free.fr/site/nuit/lit.../lifein

No. Which is strange 'cause Weewerk usually just does a deal with Six Shooter records and they release the stuff in the US and Canada at the same time. Oh well, it could be a 2007 release I guess.

I've been hankering after a real copy of the above all week. Finally finally

If I owe rich the mad props for the RPC pimping then, mad props it is. That thing is pretty great. and thanks for the Ox props in return Rqhammo.

That's getting some great reviews. Jay - What are your impressions?
-
Dolorean - You Can't Win. wow - what a great first impression.

I really like late December and on into January music wise. Everyone publishes their top 10 lists and you can put a couple good references together, perhaps hear a song or 2 and go plunging into a new band. What have you gleaned from other's 2006 picks? Me: Heartless Bastards - All this Time. Erika has a killer voice and since I think PJ Harvey didn't put anything out this year, it certainly fills a void. The Broken Family Band - Balls. The cross between Brakes and the Handsome Family is somehow very very appealing Ghostface Killah - Fishscale. This is just an excellent cd. I usuall

Ora Cogan : Tatter love the cover: I wonder if this is a one off thing and each CD gets a different 'Family Library' cover.

Broken Family Band - Jesus Songs. Man I am now hung up on this band.

Doesn't it. I am sooo psyched to get a real copy. And thanks for the BFB recommendations.

The Broken Family Band - Walking Back To Jesus Part Two Here I go again, holding on to you I should have brought a length of rope So I could hang myself out to dry My eyes are so wet We're walking back to Jesus But you know that I don't feel his love as deeply as you do He could have saved my family At times I think you just forget Mother Mary will you hold my hand And say it's alright now Father God will you touch my head And say it's alright now If it is, if it is Your hand across my mouth could be useful now Oh, you should have got me bound and gagged Or beaten, doped up and confuse

New to me and it's pretty perfect. Someone want to run down which cds to look out for
-
wow, this is about as essential as you can get, and what makes it great is that all of these are unearthed songs by long forgotten artists. I had read about, but never bought the Wayne McGhie CD from 1970/2004 that everyone was reviewing as a long lost masterpiece. Think I'll have to go and track it down now.
