Jayzuz, I was just gonna post Bought it a while ago but didn't get a chance to listen. I was driving to Markham last week, threw it on and low and behold there is Mary-Margaret O'Hara on a track. So, how is the new one?

Glad you got to see them Mr Buckner.

fuckin' finally from down under after a 2 month wait. Musta come by tramp steamer I reckon.

Yeah, lacking a pre-amp and then that little 'ground' connection from TT to amp/pre-amp is probably your problem. As someone new to vintage (low end) audiophile stuff, I would consider looking at pawn shops and estate sales to find a pre-amp/amp - worrying that only spending $20 at radio shack is the equivalent to making the weak link in a sonic chain. Besides, nobody wants straight 2 channel stuff anymore and things with names of 'Macintosh; 'Carver', 'Rotel' and 'Sansui' are showing up at baby-boomer garage sales. Just joined this forum to ask about my prospective purchase (a Rotel

wrens - meadowlands Just reading that this current series of shows is called the 'we're letting losers from our message board open for us' tour. What a cool cool bunch of musicians and that would make an awesome Concert T-shirt. Lord I love that band. one must eat poutine (Fries, gravy and cheese curd) when listening to that.

found this used as a replacement for a disc stolen in 2005. I may have unwittingly bought my own cd back. Top 10 of the aughties, and the insurance claim was made, so, oh well, I guess I'm supporting crime.

Cool. I must check out their touring page. Saw them at a Weework/Six Shooter promo last fall and immediately bought that cd. Can't wait to see them again. I would heavily urge you to go to the Black Sheep to see Geoff Berner. Half stand-up. half music. great concert. Geoff Berner February, 23 2007 at The Black Sheep Not Available , Wakefield, Cost : With Bob Wiseman I know that Klezmer music is not everyone's thing and that Bobby Wiseman is an acquired taste, but as the person who pimped OX, and to quote that great Canadian, Jack Bauer, 'You'll have to trust me on this'

fuck I love this band. I wanna watch you drown in a lake or get stabbed by a bull or bit by a snake and there's not a single doctor who will come and help you I want you to move to Australia, with me a success and you facing failure and all the friends you had ignore your calls

Geoff Berner - The Wedding Dance of the Widow Bride. There's a lot of people playing poker, nowadays You might want to get hip to that craze Just remember it's not a game of chance And never, under any circumstance No matter what you do in any situation Don't play cards for money with Corby Lund . . . He went down and toured Australia in 2004 Now he's banned from entering the country anymore 'Cause those little Koala's are not so cute When poverty forces them to prostitute You can hear it when they pretend to come Don't play cards for money with Corby Lund http://www.geoffber

Great Lake Swimmers - Onigara I hope that the above is just a bad scan. Playing the Six degrees of Wilco game, one can now go from GLS to Tweedy in just one hop: because Bob Egan is on pedal steel. Cool.

I guess they are a Chi-town band. Saw them opening for Po Girl on the weekend and they were pretty good in a Folky/soul way. No Idea that they had written 'Scattered Leaves' from the last Be Good Tanyas CD.

Broken Family Band - Living in Sin. I had to make a choice Between good and evil to be with you And I don

Sorry, do not know. I was totally ignorant of their existence til' a November blow-job review both the Globe and Mail and Exclaim. Even then, I waited until the blog-hype kicked in to start paying attention.

That cd is simply excellent. I love finding new-to-me bands and delving into the back catalogue.
-
fuck me. Turns out I've actually seen then in concert, opening for Hayden a couple years ago. I think I sorta noted a Jeff Mangum type sound, but didn't really pay attention. Stupid me. But then again they didn't have horns with them and I love horns with indie music.
