Happy Birthday!! Hope it's a good one!

How is that? There was a really cool "interview" between Merrit and Snicket in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago... Yeah... nothing really jumped out at me from it, I'm a big fan of these guys and I'm glad I got a chance to see them live before they turned shit! Awesome live act... NP: Perfect autuminal record...

Okey dokey... NP: ...And You Will Know Us By Trail of Dead: So Divided

Hold off till tomorrow fella, I'll just clear it with the missus and I'll drop Andrew a line as well.
-
Ahhh... Christmas parties... I suppose I'll have to be well behaved this year and stay away from the single girls now that I'm spoken for! Ok - so, shall we get some tickets? Anyone seen Andrew round these parts? Thinking about this, I should clear this with the ball and chain prior to booking them, but can't see a problem...

Brakes are playing Kings College on Tues 5th Dec: http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/18003D...p;minorcatid=60

The 8th of Nov I can't actually do, I'm off to see Yo La Tengo in Cambridge.... Bugger!
-
I'd see Midlake just to see Fionn Regan, now that IS a really good album... NP: One of the few albums I've rushed out to buy this year... great stuff, looking forward to creating my own record sleeve later

fantastic... He was always a tough man. I think I'll take you up on an offer for that - have a flick through, if it's any cop a signed copy would go down very well with me Dad...
-
Ooooo... that's a nice idea Andrew... thank you... what's the book about? You definitely going down to the signing? As for Palin, you're right... sometimes I think he's great othertimes he just pisses me off. I've book marked those extracts though, so hopefully I'll get a chance to have a read later over a cuppa.

there must be something on... Mark? Andrew? For me: I couldn't resist a trip into town at lunchtime... this was only

brilliant! Certainly looking forward to the Brakes album... not really been impressed with many british bands so far this year. Speak of spilling beer and staggering around, surely it's time for our annual meet up for a few beers and some live musical entertainment?
-
Seems as though this is already out... saw in in Borders at lunchtime. A little early for the Christmas rush??
-
Not sure you'll like Mars Volta, Rich... especially if you didn't like the TV On The Radio one, that's positively accessible compared to passages on this album...
-
Is that JET?!?!?!?! For me: Viscera Eyes is fcuking great...
-
Ahh... right, well that saves me a trip into town at lunchtime! Just finished: For fans of The Blue Nile and Talk Talk, this is a really lovely album...
-
So no one seems to know when this was released in the UK... I rang Fopp in Cambridge this morning and they've sold out... but they're not sure if they've had any copies or going to get any copies... bizarre!
-
I read that in the Guardian on Friday - excellent story... wouldn't mind catching them live, seem very interesting...

What's that dude?

It's a mad couple of months for me, espcially as the students are back in Cambridge so there's infinitely more going on... I've got this month: 5/10 Seafood @ Loft 12/10 NME Rock N Roll Riot Tour @ Junction 18/10 The Long Blondes @ Junction 22/10 James Dean Bradfield @ Junction And might try for the Twisted Folk night at The Shed which looks very interesting... Next month looks like: 2/11 Badly Drawn Boy @ Junction 5/11 Calexico @ Roundhouse 9/11 Yo La Tengo @ Junction 11/11 Amplifier @ Portland Arms 13/11 Forward, Russia @ Junction 18/11 Rachel Unthank @ The Shed

Damn the lack of an independent record store in Cambridge.... I'm not even sure if it's officially out in the UK this week or not, everyone seems a little vague on its release date...

We had a quick discussion on this in the Now Playing thread... I really like it, a more meatier production that usual by these guys without sacrificing what they're good at... Really love B.S. Johnson, nice lyrical play about the author...

I'll keep an eye out for that! NP:

Agreed on the Pernice Brothers record - really good, took me a couple of listens to really appreciate it, especially on headphones, but it's got a nice meaty production to it. The Casal album is really good - not heard any of his stuff till I saw him support Ryan Adams on a recent acoustic show... was impressed.
