Saint Genevieve
Here's a Wilco song for you to play, for a breezy spring day in Portland... I didn't transcribe this, and a couple of chords in this seem off to me, so maybe when the Dude shows up he can fix them. Intro E C#m F# A [E]Like a cloud[G#]His fingers explode[A]On the typewriter ribbon[F#]The shadow grows[E]His heart's in a [C#m]bowl behind the [F#]bank [A D][E]And every evening[G#]when he gets home[A]To make his supper and[F#]eat it alone[E]His black shirt criesWhile his shoes get [F#m]cold [A]It just a dream he keeps [E]having [C#m F#m]And it doesn't seem to [G#m]mean [E]anything [C#m F#m]And it doesn't seem to [G#m]mean [E]anything [E]One summer[G#]a suicide[A]Another autumn[F#]a traveler's guide[E]He hits snooze [C#m]twice before he [F#]dies[E]And every evening[G#]when he gets home[A]To make his supper and[F#]eat it alone[E]His black shirt [bm]criesWhile his shoes get [F#m]cold [A]It just a dream he keeps [E]having [C#m F#m]And it doesn't seem to [G#m]mean [E]anything[C#m]Its just a dream he keeps [F#m]having B C Em F Fm C Em F AM D Am D G [G]He feels lucky to have you here[C]In his kitchen[A]in your chair[G]Sometimes he for[D]gets that you're even [A]there [G]It just a dream[D] he keeps [G]having [Em Am]And it [D]doesn't seem to [bm]mean [G]anything [Em Am][Em]It just a dream he keeps [Am]having D G[Em]It just a dream [Am]And it [D]doesn't seem to [bm]mean [G]anything Em A D G

deepseacatfish
here's my take on summerteeth, that other one sounded mostly right, but I think this will correct most of the problems...someone might want to check it over though, just to be sure Intro E C#m F# A [E]Like a cloud[G#]His fingers explode[A]On the typewriter ribbon[F#]The shadow grows[E]His heart's in a [C#m]bowl behind the [F#]bank [F#(Hit once hard) A][E]And every evening[G#]when he gets home[A]To make his supper and[F#]eat it alone[E]His black shirt criesWhile his shoes get [F#m]cold [A]It just a dream he keeps [E]having [C#m F#m]And it doesn't seem to mean [E]anything [C#m F#m]And it doesn't seem to mean [E]anything [E]One summer[G#]a suicide[A]Another autumn[F#]a traveler's guide[E]He hits snooze [C#m]twice before he [F#]dies[F# A][E]And every evening[G#]when he gets home[A]To make his supper and[F#]eat it alone[E]His black shirt criesWhile his shoes get [F#m]cold [A]It just a dream he keeps [E]having [C#m F#m]And it doesn't seem to mean [E]anything[C#m]Its just a dream he keeps [F#m]having B C Em F Fm C Em F F6 D G [G]He feels lucky to have you here[C]In his kitchen[A]in your chair[G]Sometimes he for[bm]gets that you're even [A]there[step down to the C] [C(only one beat)]It just a dream[D] he keeps [G]having [Em Am]And it [D]doesn't seem to mean [G]anything[Em]It just a dream he keeps [Am]having [D G][Em]It just a dream [Am]And it [D]doesn't seem to mean [G]anything [Em Am D G] [Then just fade out with that last chorus pattern bit...] hope this looks good! I don't understand why you took that G#m out. It belongs there. The only thing I'd have to add is this:[C#m]Its just a dream he keeps [F#m]having [Fm][E]
mastershake
[G]He feels lucky to have you here[C]In his kitchen[A]in your chair[G]Sometimes he for[bm]gets that you're even [A]there[step down to the C]what is the tab for the step down to C part? that doesn't make sense to me because the root note of the A is just open A and the root note of the C is the third fret on the A string. Are you supposed to be playing bar C?
ginandcigarettes
what is the tab for the step down to C part? that doesn't make sense to me because the root note of the A is just open A and the root note of the C is the third fret on the A string. Are you supposed to be playing bar C? Yeah, this doesn't make any sense because the tab isn't quite kosher. Try this: Intro . . . . E . . . C#m . . . F# . . . | . A . [E] Like a cloud his[G#]fingers explode on the[A]typewriter ribbon the[F#]shadow grows[E] His heart's in a [C#m]bowl behind the [F#]bank[F#] [A] [E]And every evening when[G#]he gets home[A]To make his supper and[F#]eat it alone[E] His black shirt cries while his shoes get [F#m]cold [Faug] [A/E] It just a [b7] dream he keeps Here Edited October 20, 2007 by ginandcigarettes

ginandcigarettes
also, does anyone have a tab for the studio version of summerteeth? i want to try to figure out the main guitar riff that is repeated throughout the song. i'll try tomorrow but i bet i'll fail Are you talking about the piano part in the chorus? 1p.+.....+.....+.....+.....2p.+.... e--------------------------|-------B--------5--7--5--4--------|--------G--4--6-----------------6--|------D--------------------------|--------A--------------------------|-----E--------------------------|-------Note: the second time it comes around in the chorus it starts on the upbeat of 'four'. Or the guitar part during the descending line? 1v.+.....+.....+.....+.....2v.+.....+.....+.....+...... e--------5-----------5-----|--------5-----------3-----|B-----7-----------6--------|-----5-----------4--------|G--6-----------6-----------|--6-----------4-----------|D--------------------------|--------------------------|A--------------------------|--------------------------|E--------------------------|--------------------------| Note: the last note sound a whole lot like a 'g' which would make the last chord a Baug, but this sounds weird. Maybe it's a screw-up, but it happens twice. Meh. Play what you want. Or the guitar lick during the chorus? ......1c.+.....+.....+.....+.....2c.+.....+.....+.....+.....3c.+.....+.....+....+.....4c.+.....+.....+.....+...... e-----|--------------0-h7--------|--------------0-h7--------|--------------0-h7--------|--------------0-h7--------|B-----|-----7-h9-----------------|-----7-h9-----------------|-----7-h9-----------------|-----7-h9-----------------|G--9--|-----------9-----------9--|-----------9-----------9--|-----------9-----------9--|-----------9-----------9--|D-----|--------------------------|--------------------------|--------------------------|--------------------------|A-----|--------------------------|--------------------------|--------------------------|--------------------------|E-----|--------------------------|--------------------------|--------------------------|--------------------------| Another lick? ginandcigarettes
wow thanks a lot. i really like that particular riff, i wonder if jay or jeff came up with it. No problem. My guess is Jay came up with the part. At the very least he plays it, since the part seems to require some ring finger snapping of strings, which is tre Jay, and it seems to be a single take with the intro lick the rest of the lead guitar in the song. Guest Speed Racer
What's the little riff Jeff plays in the intro to this song, when he plays it solo? The one right after the returning to E the second time in the intro: E C#m F# A E (little riff) ? Thanks!
