Guest Speed Racer
Probably a vintage with the paint stripped.
dustbowler
It's Fender Jaguar, not Jazzmaster. He played this in OKC. I don't know if that was the first time he played it, but that was around the time it started showing up. Jeff played it on the Late Greats and not anything else that night. There were some other photos posted in the past of this one. This is a much better picture than I have seen in the past. You can make out Jaguar on the red headstock. It also has 22 frets, Jazzmasters have 21.It's also been modified and has a humbucker for the bridge pickup. I would say mid 60s Jaguar with stripped finish. Fender did some Jags and Jazzmasters with headstocks that matched the body and there are some red ones around for sale from time to time. AWOL
Clay dot markers, no neck binding... makes it a pre 65 guitar... so its dated somewhere between 62-65 i reckon... its such a frankenstein guitar... very sonic youth.

I'm guessing it's a '62. I have a '62 reissue, and it looks exactly like that (minus the altered pick-up, of course).
mpolak21
He plays a similar model in a Wilco DVD I have, from Toronto in 2002 on Not For The Season, I love the sound of the Jazzmasters/Jaguars, very cool guitars. --Mike

Gobias Industries
Isn't anyone going to mention the solid-gold capo? Tweedy's big ballin'! I wish it was solid gold too, but I'm certain Kyser makes capos with gold-paint finishing.
