Fidco
This is what I've figured out based on previous posts and messing around a bit.Sounds pretty good for a rhythm part. The chords won't match up to the lyrics exactly in this post, but if you know the rhythm of the song, it's not hard to figure out. Enjoy! Pecan_Pie
Thanks man! you rock!...but wouldn't the G beEm7/G?
zkits
for the rock out parts i have it in drop d so it sounds a bit more powerful, and u can just play the G without the bass note. But for the rockout part i just tune it to D and i play e-2-2---------2--2b-3-3---------3--3g-2-2---------2--2d-0-0--2-0-2-0--0--2-0-2-0-5-5a-0-0--2-0-2-0--0--2-0-2-0-5-5E-0-0--2-0-2-0--0--2-0-2-0-5-5 yadayadayada so its basically the same thing only i think it sounds morepowerful that way. suit yourself

Groo
For some reason, it sounds better to me to play an Asus (E-0-0-0-3-2-0) instead of a Dsus during the intro.
jhc
(E-x-x-0-3-2-0) That's a Dsus2, and I'm pretty sure that's the right one.
jhc
FWIW, this is how I do the breaks ---D------Em----D e-2--2----------2-----b-3--3--3-0-0-0-3-----g-2--2--2-0-0-0-2-----d-0--0--0-2-0-2-0-----a---------------------e--------------------- --D-------------G----- e-------------------------3-3b----2h3p2 0--------------3-3g-2--2---------2----------0-0d-0--0---------0----------0-0a---------------------0h2-3-3e-----------------2h3-----3-3 --G----------D e------------2-2---b-0-0h2-2h3--3-3---g-0-0---0----2-2---d-0-0---0----0-0---a------------------e------------------ --D--G-----------D e-2--3--3-3-3-3--2-2-b-3--3--3-3-3-3--3-3-g-2--0--0-0-0-0--2-2-d-0--0--0-0-0-0--0-0-a----2--2-2-2-2------e----3--3-3-3-3------ For pattern #1 zkit's way is pretty similar, probably with a little more low end punch but both ways make the same musical "point" Edited March 23, 2006 by jhc
Mike7300
How about what the tab has as the "rock break" is that Dsus correct?
jhc
How about what the tab has as the "rock break" is that Dsus correct? The tab above is the "rock break", at least how I go it. When tabs write Dsus I often dont know what they mean. Dsus2 is a very different chord than Dsus4. The intro to late greats is D-Dsus2. D Dsus2e-2-----0b-3-----3g-2-----2 Dsus4 is different, and sounds more like a G chord -3--3--2- If you divide up the rock break into 4 parts, the first part I have can be basically written as D----D----D--Em-D-Em--D You can substitute G or Dsus4 for the Em, and it still sounds pretty good. When I play this without the capo, I play the F barre chord at the first fret, then go to Fsus4 and it sounds fine. Edited February 2, 2006 by jhc
Groo
That's a Dsus2, and I'm pretty sure that's the right one. Asus is what came up on Chordfind.com, so that explains the discrepency.
jhc
Asus is what came up on Chordfind.com, so that explains the discrepency. When Chordfind.com says sus, it means sus4. Asus4 is indeed pretty similar to Dsus2 Asus4 x-0-2-2-3-0 Dsus2 x-0-0-2-3-0 But you do want that open D string....
Groo
Anyone know the little fiddly lead riffs that get played on this song, and or the bass tabs?
