insideoutoflove
wow. freaking AMAZING show. it was all fabulous. malkmus opened...played some silver jews and pavement, awesome. then new pornographers....NEKO CASE was freaking there!!! we assumed she was on her tour and wouldnt make it, but when she came out on stage....gahh the whole night just got SO much more exciting. NP played an awesome set, really good stuff, had never seen them live before but it was solid. (oh yeah and attackwithlove got the setlist!) and then MMJ...holy crap. this pretty much sums it up: so kickass, i cant get over how awesome it all was...and for 10 bucks. fucking sweet. anyway, im too tired to say much else...pictures will be up soon. here's one of MMJ to tide you over: okay just kidding, i managed to finish uploading before i fell asleep...pictures are up here
parisisstale
That's just a ridiculous line-up , and the pix are great !!! Sounds like a blast. One thing, though. Where can I get a hold of that time machine that lets you see tomorrow's shows in advance. I always heard there was something special about Northwestern .
Wendy
MMJ? NP w/ Neko? Malkmus? Great pix, Morgan! I especially like this one: My only question - why weren't we there? Was this one of those student-only things? Carl Broemel, MMJ's multi-instrumentalist you have pictured above, is amazing. We were standing right in front of him, too, one time and witnessed him in action - sax, guitar, lap steel. And FWIW, it looks like the beard/hair-trimming shears have reached as far as MMJ (not Jim James, but the bass player looks all tamed).

Wendy
Ah, I know it for sure would have sucked big time to drive that distance and then not get in. Of course I'm so glad you guys got to go and that it was such a good show. What a lineup! I'm listening to Z again now and it's been a while

jhh4321
Whoa Malkmus played Jews and Pavement songs? I thought he didn't do that. What songs? Also was Malkmus solo acoustic? Sounds like an awesome show.
Preferred B
Damn it! I'm seeing the New Pornos tonight, and was totally convinced Neko wouldn't be there, but now my hopes are up. I wish I hadn't seen this. Sounds like a great show, though. I've seen all the performers mentioned in some guise or another, but seeing them all together would be great. Sounds like an awesome show. copped this from SOMB: Malkmus was a mixed bag. Mainly what he played was cool:Some covers or new songs i didn't know.Freeze the SaintsTrigger CutShoot the SingerRange LifeBlue Arrangments.Sadly the crowd didnt' dig em, and even as a long time Pavement fan, other than the cool factor that this was Malkmus playing some kick-ass pavement songs (all acoustic), it wasn't very good. Sloppy, and not in an endearing way.
jhh4321
copped this from SOMB: hmmm...range life, blue arrangemnts(a joos song!), shoot the singer and trigger cut would be cool. i thought freeze the saints was SM solo off the new one? Attack With Love
hmmm...range life, blue arrangemnts(a joos song!), shoot the singer and trigger cut would be cool. i thought freeze the saints was SM solo off the new one? yeah it is, it's true the crowd wasn't digging him too much. he was the "special guest" and the shortest set (not by his choosing). i think the jycks would have brought a lot more to his set, but i guess it would be kind of a hassle to get that all together for like 6 songs (about a 1/2 hour). that being said, malkmus has been one of my musical heroes since i was a freshman in high school (okay, that was only two years ago, but still!) and it was awesome seeing him since all the other times he's come near me it's age restricted or something else. i don't think most poeple knew who he was or why people were excited to see him...the people next to me were bashing his lyrics and making fun of him, which made me sad...but whatever, i love him. Preferred B
Breakin' The Law Ah! They were taking requests tonight, and I reeeally wanted to hear that song, but my requesting ability was hampered by the fact that I could not remember the title. Next time... (No Neko, by the way. But a very fun show nonetheless.)
Okkervil_
I saw the New Pornos back in February when they came to Boston with Belle & Sebastian. I was ready to give my left hand for tickets to that one; I'd have gladly given everything I own to go to this show. Awesome pics!
