froggie
well, i've listened to the 2 versions of this tune uploaded about 20 times this afternoon. what a great tune, in terms of how much emotion jeff can put in a catchy melody? these are what i can hear as the lyrics (minus the part in question marks!).... is it close?. the bits with slashes were sung differently on the 2 versions... bring it on guys... this is a long term keeper --- if you feel like singing a songyou want other people to sing alongjust sing what you feeldont let anyone say its wrong if you're trying to paint a picturebut you're not sure which colours belongjust paint what you see/feeldont let anyone say its wrong when/if you're strung out like a kitestuck awake in the nightits alright to be frightened but there's a lightwhat a lightthere's a lightwhat lightthere's a lightwhat a lightinside of you if you're thinking 'bout being somebodyto lift/pick you up when you're drydont lose sight of yourselfdont let anyone change your ??? and if the whole world's singing alongand your paintings/pictures have been harmedjust remember what was yoursis everyone's from now on there is no wrong or rightyou can struggle with it all you likeyou'll only get uptight and there's a lightwhat a lightthere's a lightwhat lightthere's a lightwhat a lightinside of you......... ect
jethro
what a great tune, in terms of how much emotion jeff can put in a catchy melody? these are what i can hear as the lyrics (minus the part in question marks!).... is it close?. the bits with slashes were sung differently on the 2 versions... bring it on guys... this is a long term keeper I totally agree. Anyone following from home knows I haven't been kind to most of the new songs but this is just flat out a great one. Jeff's performance on these two versions is as good as anything he's ever done and the band fills everything in perfectly. I say rip it from the setlist now and run back to Chicago and get it down for the record and if it ends up on disc anything like these two versions it'll make the record worth buying even if some of the clunkers manage to work their way on. but there's a lightwhat a lightthere's a lightI think it's always "what a light" but he runs it together, sometimes more than others. jhc
when/if you're strung out like a kitestuck awake in the night "When I'm walkin' I strut my stuff, man I'm so strung out. I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out"

Darkhorse
to repeat whats been said I think its the best of the new ones. ps who cares if it sounds like "wilco", thats the beauty of this band its always changing. Jeff tweedy is just a great songwriter and he is stretching his legs a little. sounds great Edited July 12, 2006 by Darkhorse

RainDogToo
I'm pretty sure it's "when all your pictures have been hung".Well he sang 'Pictures' the first time then at the Montreal Show he sang 'Paintings'I actually like paintings better because he mentions it earlier in the song so to me it makes more sense and plus it just sounds better!
