jhc
If the band doesn't have a problem with him being on stage, and you're thinking about throwing something at a guy who's enjoying the music in his own way, then that's fucking ridiculous. Letting someone else's dancing bother you so freakin much that you contemplate doing him harm is fucking ridiculous. To let someone else's actions - outside of screaming in your ear or stepping on your kids - get in the way of your enjoyment of a rock and roll concert is fucking ridiculous. As far as whether or not you want him up on the stage, that decision is up to the band. If they say he gets to be up there and you are so upset about it that it ruins your whole concert experience, that's fucking ridiculous. Jesus, what part of that was actually addressing the statement "While I probably wouldn't throw stuff at him, I woldn't want some asshat becoming a distraction on stage when I'm trying to focus on the band." and what part was insane ravings? To say that "screaming in your ear or stepping on your kids" are the only ways another person can get in the way of enjoying a show is fucking ridiculous. I can think of about a dozen. One of which is cramming your way up to the front of the stage and then "dancing" by flailing around so much they people either have to give you a 4 foot radius at all times or get punched or kicked (something Beatle Bob is notorious for) Yes it's the band's call whether they let him on stage. Which one of the Blisters do you think gave him explicit permission? Or does silence = assent? Either way, I think his presence on stage detracts from the enjoyment of a show, and I sure as hell don't need my opinions validated by you. Beatle Bob
cmoe on guys, i am just a normal guy trying to enjoy the bands that i love in my own way. I do this by dancing enthusiesticaly and getting in my own "groove zone". contrary to what some people say i dont knock around into people or anything like that, especially since the bands always put me on the backstage guest list where there are not many people to bump into anyway. obviously the bands enjoy a fan like me who is clearly totally in love with just the music and willing to let loose. why else would i be let on stage? have you been let on stage? i dont understand how you enjoy concerts less if someone else is enjoying it. concerts are a group experience and the more people around you enjoy it, the more you can enjoy it. get a life. -BB

ction
If the makers of Shrek turned this thread into an animated kids movie, jhc's character would be voiced by Allen Iverson (instructed by the director to tap into his frame of mind during the practice? monologue circa2003/2004). blasting_fonda
Haha all of this is fuckin ridiculous. Sorry to have said that, it's just personally, I found Beatle Bob annoying. He came on during a lot of my favorite bands sets and distracted me and possibly them. I did find it funny how he announced several of the bands "the GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD" I think he did that for both Sonic Youth and after the New Pornographers he said something about that. But I think that Wilco echoed my sentiment by fencing off the stage area and allowing Beatle Bob to dance around backstage. No problem with that, I just don't want him dancing around while I'm trying to be enlightened by a beautiful song like "Let's Fight." Honestly, I have no problem with him screwing around while someone like the Frames are playing, but let's hold Wilco in a somewhat higher regard and realize that all of us value seeing Wilco. Just personally, I would enjoy a sans-Bob show slightly more that a show with Bob. And I bet the guy posting as Bob was my friend Zack Silver. That would be something he would do.
