OOO
I'm a diehard James Bond (I have copies of BOTH previous casino royale movies) and I'm definitely looking forward to Daniel Craig as 007, and the new take on it. I was about to hand in my fan card at the end of the last movie, even though overall I do like Pierce. If only Peter Lorre was still around to be the bad guy..

I was about to hand in my fan card at the end of the last movie, even though overall I do like Pierce. If only Peter Lorre was still around to be the bad guy..I too am a diehard James Bond fan and I was so dissapointed that Pierce's opportunity as being a legendary bond was ruined by such shameful script writing. Goldeneye is definately in my top 3 bond films, however, everything post-Goldeneye has been a disaster. I am also looking forward to Daniel Craigs take on 007....I also am looking forward to a more 'stipped down', less action-crazed script. I heard that they are sticking tightly to the book and avoiding the big action packed scenes. No Q or MoneyPenny though Sidenote, I just got finished watching The Spy Who Loves Me special edition....does Bond get any better than this? Roger owns the role, i must say! (no offense Connery fans)

Roger owns the role, i must say! (no offense Connery fans) Roger Moore blows. Never should have been cast as Bond. My Bond ranking: 1. Connery2. Dalton (criminally underrated)3. Brosnan (liked him, even though I'd always hated him before)4. Lazenby5. Moore

cusacker
Roger Moore blows. Never should have been cast as Bond. My Bond ranking: 1. Connery2. Dalton (criminally underrated)3. Brosnan (liked him, even though I'd always hated him before)4. Lazenby5. Moore Wow that is a first! i think The Spy Who Loved Me, Live and Let Die, Octopussy, Moonraker, Man With the Golden Gun are some of the best bond films produced....but everyone has their own opinion. However, I do agree that Dalton is extremely underrated. He gave Bond a very serious/dark side that I thought worked very well, especially in License to Kill
OOO
I'm a connery fan through and through, but I also enjoy some of Roger's movies, so no hard feelings I just find it weird that moore is 3 years older than connery, but played bond up to 15 years after connerys last bond picture (never say never again not included). By the end of moore's stint he was getting pretty geriatric. Before Dalton took over they were going to have Q give Bond a walker with laser guided rockets in it. I just don't think the guy was right for Bond. He was too much a dandy, or something -- I can't quite put my finger on it. Just my opinion, of course.
aricandover
Roger Moore blows. Never should have been cast as Bond. My Bond ranking: 2. Dalton (criminally underrated) If Connery wasn't so great in the role, I'd say that Dalton was the quintessential Bond.
anodyne
huge bond fan here. casino royale is such a great book. i hope the caning scene (with the chair) is in the movie - that part made me wanna hurl. thunderball is my favorite bond flick, as clunky as the camera work is. there really aren't bond movies i hate, but the more recent ones have been too much flash and not enough substance. the man with the golden gun should have been a lot more awesome. christopher lee is an amazing talent, but the movie deviated too far from the incredible book. such a waste! Mr. Kinsley
Holy crap! This looks like the greatest action movie... ever!
c53x12
Timothy Dalton had a badass quality that few of the other Bonds had. Especially not Roger Moore. I think Moore's appeal was in the charm/humor department -- unfortunately, he came off too foppish most of the time, while Sean Connery was able to be charming, humorous and cool all at the same time. Brosnan had charm and some cool (surprisingly so), but lacked humor. And don't forget David Niven in the original Casino Royale, perhaps the most foppish of all Bonds. The Bond franchise is in a weird place. They've been doing essentially the same movie for so long now that no matter what they do, half the audience will probably hate it. cryptique
The Bond franchise is in a weird place. They've been doing essentially the same movie for so long now that no matter what they do, half the audience will probably hate it.That's especially true since they ran out of Fleming stories to film. I mean, look, now they're going back and remaking them. I kind of hope someone comes along (screenwriter, director, hopefully both) who can re-energize the series with some great original stories and a new signature style, whether it's with this new guy as Bond or someone else. I'm not sure the suave character of the early Connery films plays as well to today's younger generations as it did for those in its time, but this trailer gives me hope that they've found a way to update the character to appeal to the younger crowd without losing touch with who Bond was in the early days. Can't wait to see it.
anodyne
fleming was unique though. he was ex- MI-6 and brought a realism to bond that the movies kind of killed. i am not sure bond can really make a post-cold war leap as a current agent would be fighting a stateless organization, and that doesn't reverberate as well as an evil nation-state. OOO
Fixed it for you. You are forgetting, of course, Barry Nelson. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310853/
Somnambulist
Of course you're all forgetting Peter Sellers was James Bond as well in the original Casino Royale. He was actually Evelyn Tremble ("Evelyn, isn't that a woman's name? No, it's mine.") but became James Bond to take on Orson Wells as LeChiffre. One-shot Lazenby was not the greatest James Bond but On Her Majesties Secret Service was one of the best all around James Bond movies. The fight scenes were tight, no spaceships, great opening theme song, and heart.
