Smokestack Joe
I've deprived myself of Calexico music for so long. i went to the $10 show at beautiful wonderful Pabst theatre in milwaukee tonight only knowing a few songs in the Calexico catalog and they blew me away, melted my face as they say. unbelievable musical energy, total musicianship. truly an amazing live band. this was the first time they played in milwaukee so i like to think they pumped up the show. they seemed happy to be here. the crowd was really into the show/music. i picked up Feast of Wire and Hot Rail. I know i wont be dissappointed. every part of the band was impressive and enjoyable. i loved all aspects.
deepseacatfish
I'm seeing them Friday and I'm excited like this: I only have Feast of Wire, but I've heard a handful of things off the new album, and either way have heard they put on a fantastic show.

Wendy
God I love this band live. They were just in southern Indiana and Cleveland and I'm kicking myself for not making the trip, but there's just too many shows coming up this fall, and I can't go to everything. Plus, I did see them headline just this past July at the Magic Stick in Detroit, and stood literally right in front of Joey Burns and was soooo mesmerized and swept away by the brilliance of Calexico as a whole, but damn I love Joey Burns' voice. Somebody (Leo?) once called them a national treasure, and I agree 100% I think that was when we saw them on the Iron & Wine/Calexico tour. Enjoy the shows!
Albert Tatlock
Good to here - seeing them myself in about a month.
m_thomp
I've seen them three times this year, and on the last occasion they dropped in lyrics from Wilco's I'm A Wheel into Stevie Nicks, and covered part of Guns of Brixton. Which was nice.
Albert Tatlock
on the last occasion they dropped in lyrics from Wilco's I'm A WheelSure it wasn't just a nine beat count-in? Also, how was MMJ at the Astoria - weren't you planning on going?
m_thomp
Sure it wasn't just a nine beat count-in? Also, how was MMJ at the Astoria - weren't you planning on going? Yes, I went. They were fantastic, played for well over 2 hours, which is an extreme rarity for central London venues. Although in order to fit G.A.Y. night in afterwards, it meant the band were offstage by 10:30, and so started at just after eight. I didn't hang round the venue after the gig. Full report to follow soon.
Eli Cash
I saw them at Lolla, and they were great, though their set was cut short due to technical difficulties. I talked to some random people after the show, and they said they had never heard Calexico before, but were blown away by their performance. And if you don't have their new album, you really need to pick it up. "All Systems Red" is the song of the year.
LouieB
Calexico is a great great live band. I find their new album a bit cold, but in person it gets nice and hot. LouieB

P Dub
Hopefully there are tapers at most of these shows. I looked around last Saturday in StL and didn't see any other tapers, but you never know. We had local legend, , Beatle Bob as the mc, and he drew some boos from the crowd . Too funny! It was a great show!

Silent Assassin
At the Cleveland show they said that they were recording it, for what I don't know. It was my first Calexico show, after waiting for a couple years for them to come around, and it was great.
