CalebMac
Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm pretty sure it's a Gibson. I love the pickguard.
jhc
Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm pretty sure it's a Gibson. I love the pickguard. I thought he's had that for a while - an old Kay or Silvertone?
Guest Speed Racer
Oh, he's had it for a while. Saw it last year in Madison, and that was also the phantom beast that body-checked Sir Ear-Grabber in Missouri.
oceanman
He was playing a 12 string the other night, first time I've seen him play one.
Guest Speed Racer
He was playing a 12 string the other night, first time I've seen him play one. He busted one out for a lot of shows in 2000, as well as solo (and now live) versions of HMD and Mountain Bed. The same one, with no logo on the stock, right? Also, from Willie's Vintage Guitars, perhaps a similar model acoustic?
CalebMac
In an article I read he said that the 12 string was copy of leadbelly's.

Lance
Yep. It's a Gibson FJN (Folk Singer Jumbo). Crazy guitars - 2" nut, classical bracing, big 'ol pickguards. Not exactly tone machines... Lance

H to the ickle
I know this is a bit delayed but I'm going to post here anyway. I talked to John Stirrat at the Autumn Defense show in Columbia (two nights ago) where Pat was playing a similar guitar and just asked him what the deal with it was. Apparently Pat had one first and so John bought one as well (since they sound amazing) and then Jeff finally bought two of them and yeah, it is an old Gibson Folksinger. H to the ickle
That was pretty much what I said to Mr. Stirrat after he related the tale to me.
