(10/30a) If you take the Snob factor out of the consideration, the following belong: R.E.MGrandmaster Flash and the Furious FiveVan HalenThe Ronettes I know Van Halen has descended into the realm of being a sad joke, but EVH at his prime was untouchable as a guitarist. Besides...it would be funny to see the uncomfortable acceptance speeches....
LouieB
Yea....Patti...its time for her!!! LouieB
Calexico
It would be just fun to see EVH and DLR on stage looking as if they melted under the stage lights. R.E.M. and Patti, nice one.
ction
How are the Ronette's not already in? "Be My Baby" might be the best rock n roll song ever recorded.
Atticus
Does the Rock 'n Roll hall of fame really mean that much to musicians? (i.e. in the same way that some sports halls of fame do to athletes?) just curious...
Analogman
There are lots of bands that could be in there but are not. KISS for one.

Analogman
They are a rock band, yes? They had something mostly original going on there for a while.
Calexico
They are a rock band, yes? They had something mostly original going on there for a while. Believe me, I am not dissing it. I have had a Rush affliction for years so I understand.
Analogman
They should be too. If you look around, there are various lists out there of bands that are not in there - but are eligible. I mean VH - what's so great about them - outside of EVH guitar playing?

MrRain422
I'll take Iggy, Ron, Scott and Dave. And feel free to throw in Steve, too. Thanks.
EL the Famous
I mean VH - what's so great about them - outside of EVH guitar playing? While not the best ever or anything, you're taking a lot away from Mike and Alex. Maybe their playing sounded better intertwined w/ Ed's guitar, but they laid out some monstrous rock as a unit. I'm actually more of a Van Hagar guy, but DLR was a hell of a frontman in his prime as well. I'm a huge KISS fan, but i'd put VH in over them in a heartbeat.
Analogman
I have never known what criteria they use to decide - must be something like this I suppose: number of records sold worldwide?originality?popularity?influence?number if years together? While not the best ever or anything, you're taking a lot away from Mike and Alex. Maybe their playing sounded better intertwined w/ Ed's guitar, but they laid out some monstrous rock as a unit. I think those dudes are not very good musicians. At least KISS had a gimmick.

Alice Cooper Should be in Rush Should be in Van Halen Should be in (only DLR not Sammy).....1st 2 discs aewsome... Grand Funk? Thin Lizzy?
Calexico
Alics Cooper not there either? What a weird set up. Damn, I loved me some Lizzy back in the day. Lizzy and Rory Gallagher, kept me sane thru school years.
