Embarcadero Eyes
I just joined a week ago. I really like it so far, I'm going to get a chance to catch up on a lot of stuff I've been missing. Just wanted to pass that along.

quarter23cd
I've been a member for years and, in general, have been a fan. They've broadened their list of labels and there is now plenty of good stuff there. I also just got a notice that they're upping their rates. (or, rather, lowering the amount of songs you get for the same money--same difference) Not sure if that's going to push me over the edge to drop it or not, but I'm not real happy with it at the moment. Mystik Spiral
I joined just about a month ago, it seems like they have a good selection. I'm pretty unhappy about the rate increase too...

The rate change only applies to new subscribers after that date. If you're already subscribing, you're subscription will be unchanged.
Guest Rufer
Oh yeah, and I think it's a great service. It's how I purchase much of my music. I always wonder whether royolties paid to the band is the same rate as if I had purchased the disc at a Best Buy or what have you. I guess I assume it would. Anyway, through emusic, used disks through Amazon or half, and very rarely from brick and mortar retailers is how I purchase my music.

Lately I've found that my download habits tend to swing back and forth--some months I seem to use up my alotted downloads almost instantly, other months I kick myself because I realize I let the month slip by without downloading a thing. I wish it were possible to "carry over" unused downloads...
Embarcadero Eyes
I wondered about the royalties too. Ain't too pleased with the rate increase either.
CortezTheKiller
I think it's a great service. And it just became much more interesting with the addition of this.

Hype Repellent
I can't believe they just got the 64-71 Stones. Huge windfall for Emusic. Goood for them. I join up for about three months a year, then quit, then join again. They don't get stuff in fast enough for me.
Duck-Billed Catechist
Anyone want to recommend some Folkways stuff to download?

Oil Can Boyd
I think it's a great service. And it just became much more interesting with the addition of this. I hope people grabbed what they could: "Due to events outside of our control, we no longer carry the Rolling Stones catalogue on eMusic. We are sorry to see it go, but hope to get them back in the future. Thanks for your understanding." As for me, I was waiting until next month ...
Duck-Billed Catechist
That's kind of a bummer.
Vacant Horizon
CLASSIC!that shit happens on emusic all the time. i knew this was gonna happen. part of the reason i gave up on them. not to mention that mostly everything i download from them, i get on a whim and end up hating. great place to get all songs:ohia and magnolia electric and that is about it.too bad though. their model is the way of the future if any RIAA folks care. I would gladly pay $20 a month for 30-50 downloads a month if they offered EVERYTHING.

I usually just wait until the end of the month and throw them all at random junk that I never listen to. Maybe I should quit.

quarter23cd
Argh. I knew I should have snagged some Stones stuff while it was there. I'm a longtime member--enough so that I'm still bitter about paying $9.99/mo for 40 dls because it used to be unlimited. (which was awesome, but probably a horrible business model ) I've thought about dropping the service so many times. There are so many months that go by and I kick myself for not using my dls (or wasting them on crap I know I won't listen to more than once), but then I go through streaks where I find tons of stuff I want.
