so: don't you find the title-track too close to "Far, Far Away" musically?

Yeah, it uses the same first couple notes from the solo on Far Far Away, but so what? It was a little distracting the first couple times I heard it, but now it just kind of makes me smile when I hear it. In a way I kind of dig the self-referential nod...maybe it'll make a great segue between songs in concert! :thumbup

Why would this be a problem, anyway? Artists revisit their old songs all the time, musically, lyrically, thematically, or all three.

They're two different songs that happen to have similar tempos and instrumentation ... is that some kind of sin? I mean, jesus, are we just looking for reasons to nitpick now?

Nitpicking? That similarity is the first thing that jumps to my ears! I don't see any reason to indulge in everything my fave band does.

I don't want to hear Wilco doing the same chords with every record.

Hyperbolize much?

I see your point to an extent - but for me, "Sky Blue Sky", even with the momentary "Far, Far Away" allusion, stands on its own 100%.

Well, as a whole song, I prefer "Sky Blue Sky". I'm not a big fan of Being There anyway.

Jeff's rewritten the same songs mutliple times, lyrically. "Someday Soon" and "Radio King" use some of the same lines. "Chinese Apple" and "Heavy Metal Drummr" the exact same 2nd verse.

Alright, we're not taking the lords name in vein. I lived by BT one summer, and I still have a fond place in my heart for it, but it is as all double albums tend to be, a little uneven. Its not as perfect open to close as YHF. And after listening to KT, and YHF a ton, the braveness of opening with Misunderstood is diminished a bit. Its great, but its great in that it points to the later live versions and moments like Via Chicago on Summerteeth. Or maybe great in the way that makes me want to start smoking again.

Wait were we talking about SBS? love it. Great record, I find myself more of a You Are My Face, Impossible Germany, Sky Blue Sky guy then a Shake It Off, Hate it Here guy. But I definitely do not skip those tunes. Oh and re:What Light being cheesy. Try this experiment: have a rough night, get up really early for work, drive half way to work and drink half of your coffee, then play it. It sounds like hope and beauty resurrected. Or play it midway through an average Sunday on your way to the grocery store and think that it is cheesy and also pretty good. Side effects may vary depending on the patient. Do not take with methamphetamines.

As benjamin_kenobi noted in the Oink invite thread, SBS is now oinkable.

VBR (~224) MP3.

hmm...downloading now.

edit: reading the oink comments, it looks like this is legit.

edit #2: it's awesome. drums and bass lines are crisp. ahhhhhhh.

There was a 256kbs stream rip out there. This sounds exactly like it with all the crackling and stuff. I sure hope this isn't legit because it sounds bad...
