cryptique
Chris Carpenter is having arthriscopic surgery and will be out for 3 months. Too bad... Great. And I blew one of my first picks on him in teh VC fantasy league.
bobbob1313
Great. And I blew one of my first picks on him in teh VC fantasy league. This probably goes in the fantasy thread, but I read a really interesting article a few weeks back that argues that it isn't worth taking the top guys at scarce positions like pitcher or 2B because if they get injured it ruins your team. I believe Carpenter was the focus of the article. I have to try to find it.
bjorn_skurj
Next weekend the Brewers come in to Shea. Should be an interesting series. If I don't go to Vermont, I might go to a game.

bobbob1313
Clemens is a Yankee. And good strikeout pitchers + The Marlins lineup= Lots of strikeouts. We K way too much.

MrRain422
This pisses me off, although I feel optimistic that Clemens will be injured within moments of putting on the Yankee uniform. It's just how the universe works.
cryptique
I thought that these days Clemens only wanted to pitch for a team that has a chance of winning a World Series.
evil horn
well, it's not going to be the astros' year. so what choice did he have?
yankhotelfox
I thought that these days Clemens only wanted to pitch for a team that has a chance of winning a World Series. Man you Yank haters are harsh. I'm going incognito until the late June shows in MA and VT. Rocket should have 4 or 5 wins by then anyway. Although, if you are a Tigers fan, they look pretty good again. Except Zumaya might be out for a little while. He'd better not suck, for what they're paying him. What are they paying him? It has not yet been revealed.

(Prorated.) Clemens, who will turn 45 in August, agreed to a $28 million, one-year contract that will start when he is added to the major league roster, most likely in three to four weeks. He begins with a minor league contract, and the deal will allow him to earn about $18.5 million. Clemens will start his workouts in Lexington, Ky., where his son Koby is playing in the Houston Astros' farm system.
bobbob1313
Does Zumaya throw a splitter? Thats the only real explanation I can think for "feeling something pop" in the middle knuckle of his pitching hand. Unless he really messed up a slider.
yankhotelfox
Does Zumaya throw a splitter? Thats the only real explanation I can think for "feeling something pop" in the middle knuckle of his pitching hand. Unless he really messed up a slider. I'm not sure about the details. I've never heard about him using a splitter in his repetoire. I just heard about the "pop" and the finger dislocation. Too bad, Zumaya's the balls. I'm a big Yankees fan, but that is WAY too much money. He better not give up a run all F-ing season! $18M for four months? Geez Louise.
MrRain422
Zumaya has been crap so far this year. Maybe once he's healthy again, he'll be able to find the strikezone. The Yanks have a fine chance of winning the World Series this year. But I hate them, and therefore cannot applaud this move.
