Chicago Show This Summer?

Recommended Posts

My friends and I are from Philly and we decided to wait on getting tix to a show in the general area in hopes of Wilco scheduling a show in Chicago this summer so we could take a road trip. So, now that most of the shows around here are sold out, what are the chances of Wilco playing a show in Chicago before the end of August? Good? Slim? None?

You know, I'm glad the band can play and fill a big venue like the Auditorium, but I miss the days of them playing The Vic or The Riv. I'm hoping for those two.
Be glad they aren't playing the United Center or whatever that thing is called in Rosemont, or the new Center out in the NW burbs. There are many worse places.

They should play in Chicago the same night as Sun Volt. :pirate

Havent posted in here for a couple weeks, does it come as a big surprise that Wilco is NOT doing Lollapalooza this year?? Really kind of :yawn over the line-up this year. For whatever reason, I thought Wilco would be close to a lock to return, along with a White Stripes headliner.

:unsure I guess we'll have to settle for just some more auditorium shows ho hum :music

If you mean the Sears Center, than I would say I'd rather see Wilco there than the Auditorium. I've seen them twice there, both times in the balcony ( becuase that was all I could get). You CANNOT see anything from all the way up there. The Sears Center is actually very well designed. I was there for an event a little while ago, and was all the way up in the highest balcony and I could still see the people on stage much better than even the first balcony at the Auditorium. I was suprised.

I will say if they play the Auditorium I'm not goind. I'd rather see them at the Vic or Riv...or mabye if they play in Madison or somewhere else smaller and close, I'll make the drive. Just not worth the price of the ticket for me to sit in my chair looking at little blobs of color on the stage.

I'm actully really scared they are gonna play taste of chicago. I hope they dont do it. The sound system there is terrible and the fence makes it like your not even really "there".

Charter One Pavillion would be perfect. I need me some out door Wilco and that venue is great. Hope they do GA floor if they were to play there.

Thats really all I want is a General Addmision Wilco show.

how about millenium park ampitheater?
Never gonna happen. They don't even let the jazz fest in there (and certianly not the rough and rowdy bluesfest); they sure could pack it out for Wilco though and it would be fun.

This would make my summer. It is by far, the best venue in Chicago.

Auditorium is not as bad as you say it is. The acoustics are great and the seating is not bad. I saw Bob Dylan pretty far back, but they were good seats. The only bad thing is I forgot my glasses, so his head seemed like an alien. But I think it's great venue in Chicago.

I love the Auditorium for sound, it has the best in the city. As for the view, anything in Orchestra is amazing, and the front of the first balcony. Anything other then that is pretty far and high.

The Decemberists are playing there (officially called the "Jay Pritzker Pavilion") in July with the Grant Park Orchestra as part of the Grant Park Music Festival. I'm not a big fan, but this might be cool. The setup and sound there is unreal.
