John Michael
Ha, I hear ya. I listened to Wilco as a kid (yeah Im that young). My family was kinda into good music so I heard some Tupelo and then AM and a little bit of Being There. Anyway, I kinda forgot about them during Summerteeth, but still bought YHF and AGIB. But then a few years ago, I REALLY listened to them. I now have like 700 Wilco songs on my iPod with all the live shows. Everytime I go to a guitar shop all I can remember to play is Wilco. And dont even get me started about how my friends hate riding in the car with me... Ha, I'm over it a bit more now. But for like almost a year it was all Wilco. You should try to either make it to a show or download some from the torrents area. They're a FANTASTIC live band. And check out all the side projects: Loose Fur (Jeff Tweedy, Jim O'Rourke, Glenn Kotche) - "Born Again in the USA" is a bit more accessable (and melodic) than "Loose Fur"(s/t) but ultimately you'll prolly like "Loose Fur" better. And if you like that check out the soundtrack to Chelsea Walls by Jeff Tweedy and GlennThe Autumn Defense (John Stirrat, Pat Sansone)The Nels Cline Singers (some of this stuff is ridiculous. Nels would probably say it's SICK!!!!)Glenn also does some solo stuff that's pretty coolJay left after YHF but he has some solo stuff too Oh and don't forget Mermaid Avenue I & II with Billy Bragg (I'm not a huge fan of the Billy Bragg songs on there, they're mixed sooo "pop")Oh and Down With Wilco which is with The Minus 5And listen to some Uncle Tupelo too. I don't go on a single roadtrip without "No Depression" There's just so much music!

Grace
I just got into them around a week ago and I don't know how I possibly could have missed them before. I am going out to buy sbs and a ghost is born tomorrow which are the only ones I don't have. I need to see Wilco Live.
awatt
It's been over three years and it's still the same for me (see below). Welcome aboard.
radiokills
whats a wilco?
kamera
whats a wilco? Wilco is radio-speak for "will comply." In an interview, Jeff said he thought it was amusing to have a rock band with a name that meant "will comply".

thunderstorm654pm
What an amazing band. Literally ALL Ive listened to for about a month. Just every album, holy shit. Just wanted to say hi, and express my newfound band. Peace Ahhh....a crowes fan I presume? I first discovered Wilco in 1995 after AM came out, and have followed them ever since. I got to see them perform Little Feat's "willin" with the crowes during the Horde tour in 1995. And I remember Marc Ford hanging out by the side stage when I saw Wilco perform for the first time ealier that same day. I think the Crowes really liked them. I would say welcome, but I just joined this board, too!

TCP
I discovered Wilco about 3 years ago but it wasn't till last year I REALLY got into them. Wilco/Uncle Tupelo was all I listened to for about a year. What a good year it was.
froggie
1997 for me (mermaid avenue)... its the first album that actually got any press down here
Embarcadero skies
2002 (ish) for me. Am really into the Flaming Lips and their bulletin board was going apeshit about YHF. Not looked back since and now have all the (main) albums. Agree with someone above who said they really must be seen live. I thought the Arcade Fire live would be hard to top but Wilco did it for me. craigwinn
Plus "The Wilco Book" and the Greg Kot book "Learning How To Die." Let's don't overwhelm the new fans just yet.... But seriously, welcome aboard, and just to let you know what you're in for: I've been a Wilco fan for five years and I still listen to them almost constantly.
stooka
A friend of mine has been working his ass off trying to turn me on to Wilco.I liked most of it and really grew to respect Tweedy, but the discs came and went from my player, never lasting more than a week. I mixed a CD of favorites and that one never fails, but it's 12 songs over their entire career. Then came Sky Blue Sky and this sucker won't quit. I'm really not in a position to compare it to anything else in their catalog and I'm sure some fans may not be pleased with it, but let me assure you that SBS is one of the best albums I've heard in a very long time. Not sure where, but it would definitely make my top 50 - (all time!!!!) BTWMaybe it's just me, but does anyone else think of John Lennon when they listen to Hate It Here?I picked up a little also on The Thanks I Get . Any thoughts or link to previous thread?I did a search but reading 9 pages on the VW commercial thing was a bore.

I had heard of Wilco, and remember seeing the cover for "A Ghost Is Born" EVERYWHERE a few years back and never paid any mind to it. I started sampling SBS on iTunes and it just snowballed. Im trying to find anyone of my friends to try and get into them,no luck so far. And yea,BIG Crowes fan, lol.
John Michael
Don't forget Golden Smog. Check out Wierd Tales there are some killer Jeff songs on it. Ha. I was sitting in the car worrying about how I forgot to mention that. "Until You Came Along" is one of my all-time favorite songs by the way.
John Michael
I've been a Wilco fan for five years and I still listen to them almost constantly. Five years? I keep waiting for my Wilco phase to end (not end...but at least not comprise 95% of what I listen to)... When I talk about them to my friends I do so as if it's some girlfriend that I'm so conscious about. Oh my...this could go on for forever.

When I talk about them to my friends I do so as if it's some girlfriend that I'm so conscious about. Oh my...this could go on for forever. Well, not constantly... I take a few days off every once in a while and listen to other stuff. Lots of other stuff. And I go through phases in which I'll listen to different Wilco albums. Lately it's all been Sky Blue Sky of course because it's the first Wilco album my wife actually likes. She always kind of tolerated my Wilco fanship before but she is even more obsessed with SBS than I am... Also now I'm listening to vinyl versions, the Being There and YHF lps are actually mixed differently, so there's some variety!
