W(TF)
Most intense, most wicked guitar/drums, always gets you up dancing, whatever... Vote for more than one, IF you think it's a tie.
PigSooie
I like the guitar solo in "Impossible Germany"
tapmyglass
Shake it off seems to me to be the heaviest track on SBS
W(TF)
Posted the poll because I'm having a hard time deciding, myself. Shake It Off and Hate It Here are about equal.. for me. The guitar solos on YAMF and SWTS are great though, especially the end of Seeds.... I def disagree with whatever reviewer said Walken is the hardest thing the band has done in years. Whaddo music critics know anyway, they're one rung above lawyers and used car salesmen.

W(TF)
Hey, I love Walken.....an instant roots classic if there ever was one. Reminds me of some of Big Sugar's better stuff. It just doesn't even kick as hard as 2-3 other tracks on SBS. IMHO... Picking the mellowest song would be a no-brainer... Pls Be Patient. Picking a FAVORITE track....right now, would be, uhh.. impossible.
Edie
He's complaining cause he's a used car salesman lawyer. I'm the used car salesman
W(TF)
Ahhhhhh............ ROFL. Well it's never too late to become a slimy music critic, just point it to amazon.com or whatever. The pay stinks but it's fair.
embiggen
I like the guitar solo in "Impossible Germany" yes.
Guest Jules
I voted for Walken, and I think it's my favorite on SBS at the time being. Kind of unexpected.
MIKEPUA
This album gets better and better the more they play it live. Some of the songs that weren't quite getting to me at first have become favorites. As far as "heaviest".....what a choice, Impossible Germany or Shake it off are up there neck and neck if you ask me, but I went with Impossible Germany. Great songs, great Album. W(TF)
Pretty close race so far. Fwiw, I voted for both Hate It Here and Shake It Off. Both punchy as all hell and they come across with a lot of impact in concert.
Beltmann
I went with "Seeds," but this is a bit like voting on which Scorsese movie is the most gentle.
Three dollars and 63 cents
I voted for You Are My Face and Shake It Off. I love how the tempo changes and the guitar kicks up in the middle of them. Either Way is my favorite song on the album, but these are the two tracks that best showcase Nels' playing.
wilcohead
I dont think I can really call a single song off that album heavy.
radiokills
me neither, but the solo in you are my face is rad
awatt
If heavy refers to getting one up to dance, than Walken, no doubt, hands down. If heavy refers to deepest, most profound reflections, than On and On and On, without question. If heavy refers to guitar licks that transport one to another astral plane, than Impossible Germany, of course. If heavy refers to lyrics that are so poignant that one has stop what she is doing and listen intently, than You Are My Face takes the cake. I could go on and on, but will stop. It's all heavy... theashtraysays
On&on&on is certainly the one I'd call "heavy" - it's the one that tends to weigh on me the most when I hear it. Not sure if that's what you meant, but that's the one I thought of when I saw the title here. I think Walken is a great little shiny happy love song. I don't hear anything heavy in that one. Of the ones you listed in the poll, I'd have to go with YAMF. Good poll, though. thanks for askin...
W(TF)
Interesting comments. I tried to clarify what I meant by "heavy" in the poll 'question' -- "Hardest rocking track on SBS". But I suppose it's whatever that means to you. To me it implies physical intensity in the performance- generally hard driving guitar work and/or hot lickin' rythm section work. Preferably both at the same time. What's been cool for me is listening to how Tweedy arranges (some of) the songs, starting softly, building into a rockin' chorus / middle section, and in many cases ending the song on a soft note again. Maybe not the first time anyone's done it, but the guy's a fucking genius nonetheless.
Derek
The end of Impossible Germany out of those, but for the whole album, I'd choose On and On and On. It's just so intense, and it keeps building and building, and right when you think it's going to explode, everybody drops out. That's why I'd pick it for heaviest. W(TF)
Pretty surprised to see YAMF in the lead. Then again, when it gets "heavy" that is the first point of the CD where the band really grabs the listener by the throat. Some reviewer said they copped that guitar lick off Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac). I hear vintage David Gilmour, personally.
Thanatos
With a running time just shy of 6 minutes, "Impossible Germany" is clearly and indisputably the heaviest track on SBS...much harder to lift than the other songs on the album. I recommend using your legs to alleviate any potential strain on the back. P.S. - I always use a spotter when I listen to "Spiders (Kidsmoke)", "Less Than You Think", and of course "Remember the Mountain Bed".....safety first!
lovenmercy
Shake It Off rocks my ass off. Sky Blue Sky puts a lump in my throat. (in a nice way)
wilcohead
I guess my definition of heavy music is different or something. To me heavy equals hard........ Like heavy loud fuzzy distortion.
