cryptique
I remember the last time I got hit in the wang. It hurt. Ever since then, I've adopted a strict "no-hit" policy.
bobbob1313
Meh, not cool.
Lammycat
Cano has gotten two hits. The Red Sox haven't gotten a hit yet, though. Six innings without a hit. Yet.
Sir Stewart
Meh, not cool.Did you say no hitter?
Lammycat
This is on the bottom of espn's MLB GameCast/Scoreboard: "NEW YORK'S CHIEN-MING WANG HAS A NO-HITTER THRU SIX INNINGS."
cryptique
MIKE LOWELL, ladies and gentlemen.

Lammycat
Now this is there, too:"CHIEN-MING WANG'S NO-HIT BID WAS BROKEN UP BY MIKE LOWELL WITH NO OUTS IN THE SEVENTH INNING."
Sir Stewart
Glad the no hitter's gone, but this is all still pretty pathetic.
jenbobblehead
i just ejected myself out of the game as well.
cryptique
I'd just like to point out that I cranked up MLB.com's online "Gameday" thing for this game just as Lowell stepped to the plate, so you can all thank me (and my friend Mike) for breaking up the no-hitter. I accept cash.
jenbobblehead
i will "thank" ninjas later for mentioning that the sox don't have a hit right when my boyfriend Mike Lowell was up. in other news: i have cano playing in my fantasy league today.
Sir Stewart
I thank Nerdy.
jenbobblehead
It's so sad that I find myself rooting for the Yankees...what is wrong with you? all your real friends here are red sox fans or at least NOT yankees fans.
bobbob1313
what is wrong with you? all your real friends here are red sox fans or at least NOT yankees fans. It's mostly because of Arod. If you guys didn't pick on him so much it wouldn't have happened. To be honest, I'd prefer if both teams could lose, but if I have to pick one, I'll go with the guy who is like the best baseball player ever to play baseball and who somehow gets treated like the worst baseball player ever. Honestly, the Yankees and Red Sox are exactly the same thing, but at least Yankees fans don't paint themselves out to be the underdog. I don't care that 30 years ago the Sox were, now they are the exact same team, but with facial hair. They run the team the exact same way, through ridiculous money at the same free agents, etc.
Sir Stewart
Yeah, we do that all the time around here.

The average red sox fan thinks they the underdog in the series. I'm not sure you needed to be all snarky with that 2nd sentence, but whatever. Show me why, in today's game, the Red Sox aren't exactly like the Yankees?
caliber66
For starters, their General Manager is younger. What do you think about that?

jenbobblehead
wait, so how the red sox play baseball is just like the yankees play baseball now? I thought you said that the team itself is just like the yankees? good teams play good baseball as often as they can. I would imagine that most teams would want to aspire to playing good ball and winning regardless of whether they are the Yankees or the RS or the Brewers. The differences between the sox and the yankees are many. the sox rely more on farm teams than the yankees do. the corporate culture between the two teams couldn't possibly be more different (not saying one is better than the other, just different.) the Ownership/management of the teams is incredibly different--John Henry et al vs Steinbrenner. Terry Francona vs Joe Torre? are you saying they are the same dude? Do you really believe that? I just find it hard that you, who probably knows more about baseball than anyone I know would say such a ridiculous thing. Just because of all the baseball teams in the MLB, the Yankees and the Red Sox clearly garner the most support and/or disdain across the country, does not by any stretch of the imagination make them THE SAME. Do i have a bias? Sure. But do i recognize that each team has strengths and weaknesses the other does not? Yes, absolutely.
