sureshot
Has anyone else been bitten by theses fuckers? They say they're some kind of "oak mite". I got bit a few times a week or so ago. They seem to stay much longer than mosquito bites. Worst thing is the mites are too small to even see so you have no way of knowing if you're getting bit.

OOO
I think my friend said she might have been bit by one of these. And try as she might, she couldn't get rid of the itch. Mighty annoying, so she tells me.

quarter23cd
Interesting. My daughter got bitten by something last week right between the eyes and the poor thing looked like she had a baseball growing out of her forehead all week. So its not just Chicago, we're in Columbus.
Duck-Billed Catechist
Some calamine lotion and my bites went away overnight. Golfball size sounds like a spider bite to me.

Guest Jules
100s of people going to the ER. I miean seriously.Yes, people are a little nuts about this whole thing, but you can get an infection from itching them too much and I know a few people who were prescribed antibiotics. We had them really bad in August (west suburbs), but not so much lately.

There for the only reason anyone should go to the ER for a bug bite is if a limb is about to fall off or anaphylactic shock and then you should be going by ambulance. MrRain422
I guess some people probably have this worse than I did, but mine pretty much went away in like 3 or 4 days. You could still see the marks, but the itching subsided fairly quickly.
Duck-Billed Catechist
If people go to the ER for a non-emergency it probably means they don't have health insurance. My bites were gone in less than 24 hours so they were probably something else, although they fit the physical description otherwise.
