That is the best baseball game I've seen in years. This is why post-season baseball is the pinnacle of sports. WOW!

Omg, I can't believe I just missed that ending.

As I was walking back from the office, the Rockies were done by 2 and one of the greatest closers of all time is coming in. And I walk in just as Holliday scores the game winning run. Wow.

This was one of those extremely rare nights when insomnia pays off. Wow.

I don't think I've ever seen Hoffman hit so hard. Even that last one (which was caught) was a rocket. Four of 'em in a row.

I'm not convinced that Holliday got any of the plate, but I guess we'll never know.

The Rockies have actually pounded Hoffman on a pretty regular basis for the past few years. I mean, Helton's 13 for 22 against the dude.

And might I say...

Man. To have used Jorge Julio in an important spot and SURVIVED. With luck like that, Colorado might go all the way.

I saw Jorge Julio on the mound and said to Patti, "They're handing this game to the Padres!!!" But then Trevor Hoffman goes out and does a Jorge Julio!! What a great game that was, as exciting as any I've seen in years. Best of luck to the Rockies. Not only do I hope they sweep the Phillies, but I hope that, somehow, the Phillies actually manage to score a negative run total over the course of the series. And that the Phils' ERA for the series manages to somehow be infinity.gif

Yes, those Phillies were bad, beating the Mets eight times in a row. Bad, bad Phillies!

The last replay I saw made me think that he did get it, but damn, it's close enough that I wouldn't swear on it. How fitting for that game to end on a disputable call. Could not be any closer.

The weird thing is, I didn't see anyone arguing the call. So if the Padres aren't worried about it, I won't worry about it.

:) Of course I kid. They proved to be a team with more passion and more of a will to win than the Mets were. I'm just still picking up the shards of my shattered, orange-and-blue heart.

This really is going to be one amazing post-season. Lots of great pitching, clutch hitting, and late-inning heroics in store. I'm actually glad I don't have to stress over the Mets and can watch and enjoy each and every game. Best of luck to everybody who has a team in the dance!

Now I have to write an editorial about the Mets. First, more wine!
