The MLB pennant race thread

Recommended Posts

I know you're kidding now - but you were being ridiculous. I said I was kidding IN MY POST and you took it seriously. Christ on a rubber crutch made of strawberry glaze that you can only find in the produce section of the middle of the road supermarkets among the fruit flies and fruit and my ass.

I know you said just kidding but just wondering why you were calling me a bandwagon, just wanted to clear things up if you didnt know what bandwagon meant. I was never angry about anything. except maybe the guy who hates cubs fan for no reason. hehe, :monkey

First post in the baseball thread - which has gone on all season - is earlier today. And the post concerns the Cubs winning it all. Then proceeds to moan about the Cubs having bandwagon fans. All this = a called-for BANDWAGONEER joke.

Jesus.

Ohh, it wasnt clear what you were saying till now. Took you for a person who was confused about the word. Didnt realize people were on this thread all season long. Just decided to jump into thread cause I was bored and spread my joy. But as a longtime Cubs fan, I see tons of bandwagons. I just accept them as part of winning. I dont mind most of them cause most are fairly harmless. I mostly hate the loud drunk college types that just go to party and think they are cool. I would think any city has them, right?

as a long-time cubs fan, you should be used to bandwagons, which will be the least of your concerns heading into post-season.

Pitcher Tim Wakefield received a cortisone shot in his back and will not be on the team's ALDS roster, which was unveiled today.

And Lester is his replacement, which is o.k. by me. Lester has been decent where Wakefield has struggled towards the end of the season. This is for the first series only (at this point, obviously) and I'm assuming he'd be added (if healthy) to any subsequent post-season series if it was the right situation.

Is there going to be a seperate MLB Playoff thread? I'd start one, but I don't want to potentially violate board etiquette by starting a thread deemed unnecessary.

I got your back. Teh do it.

I was in Chicago in Oct. 2003 for a Neko Case show. The Cubs were in Fla. having beaten the Marlins the night before. So I hung out in Wrigleyville and had lunch at Murphy's just across from the bleachers. Started talking to a Cubs fan who was saying how crazy it was in there the previous night. Then I started talking about the Red Sox-Yankees series and how the afternoon game should be cool with Roger facing Pedro.

Dude had no idea who I was talking about.
