TheDailyConcert
Hello, Just wanted to invite all of you over to my new web site TheDailyConcert.com ... I've posted a concert that hasn't seen the light of day lately. It's Wilco at The Fillmore in San Francisco on December 30, 1998. It's an intriguing concert but also proves just how damn good the CURRENT lineup is these days! Thanks to everyone who has shared their music collection online over the years! mpolak21
i do sometimes wish jay bennett was still in the band Yeah he and Tweedy were really on top of their game with Foxtrot and as great as I feel A Ghost is Born is, who knows what could have happened if they had made the situation workable. I'm not dissatisfied with the current lineup, but man what might have been. Subsequently I'd have liked Leroy to stick around too. --Mike

Analogman
My inaugual entry has to feature my favorite American band, Wilco. Many web sites are posting concerts from their current tour, but this week's concerts are some that haven't been available for quite some time. Also, do yourself a favor and check out The Owl & The Bear for some great Jeff Tweedy solo gigs. If you haven't seen Wilco or a Tweedy solo concert -- then take a quick peek at the remaining dates for the Sky Blue Sky tour on Wilco's official web site -
countryfeedback
I have partial versions of both shows on cd. I bought as a bootleg (yeah I know, but this was way before internet file sharing) many years ago. Those were some good times, indeedy. I do miss Jay B. but you cant deny that this current Wilco lineup is more polished than ever. I am one of those rare few who actually prefer Jay B. to Nels. No knock on Nels, he is an incredible player. My only fear is that the jazz guitar sound could get stale after some time. Fortunately Nels is talented enough to be able to switch tones and rock as hard as anyone out there. Just listen to Casino Queen or BFOL, to reasure those who feel the same way. Scalzunfield
I don't know. I'm really set on Nels over Bennett in terms of a performer. There's no doubt in my mind that, on stage, I'd rather have Nels ripping it up next to Jeff than Jay and day of the week. In terms of a studio wizard and musical guru, I'd take Jay any day of the week. I like the albums of the Jay B era much more than the two most recent ones, but the current live lineup continues to baffle me and keep me going back (show #30 in Milwaukee next month!) mpolak21
I'm all for having Nels and Jay both in the band. If tensions are too high to tour with Jay just let him record at the Loft all the time and have him be their Brian Wilson. --Mike
jc4prez
I feel that A Ghost Is Born might be the bands best album. I don't think Bennet's touch was needed much there (esp. with more invovlment from O'Rorke). I feel that Sky Blue Sky would have suited Bennet more then AGIB

If this makes sense at all, Ghost is probably my favorite Wilco album (the one I listen to the most, and probably enjoy the most), but I think Foxtrot is a better album. But who knows what would have come after Foxtrot had Bennett stayed in the band, and the YHF lineup had stayed in tact. It also would have been interesting to see what Jay could have brought to the table with Sky Blue Sky. I don't find SBS to be a bad record at all, but it's been overshadowed by a lot of other great records this year and I haven't felt anywhere near as compelled to listen to it as I was and still am with almost everything else the band's put out. --Mike

He and Jeff were almost sickly dependant on each other during the Summerteeth session, and even YHF would've sounded a bit different if Jay hadn't been fired. SBS is about being healthy and accepting life how it is...neither of which pertain to Jay or his work on Summerteeth or parts of YHF.
