Hank Steinbrenner:

Steinbrenner, apparently trying to emphasize that he has no fear of the Yankees' American League competition, has amped up the rivalry between the two teams, intentionally or not.

"Red Sox Nation?" What a bunch of [expletive] that is," he said in an interview with The New York Times' Play magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans.

"Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."

That's awesome.

Apologies to bobbob, but that quote just calls for an image of Darth Maul saying "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last, we will have revenge."

Since 2004 I see Sox gear/hats a lot out here. Before 2004 not so much, but plenty. Regardless, I think it's great to have Hank around spouting loony shit like his old man used to. Makes it interesting.

He better hope his 3, 4, and 5 SPs can pitch .500.

being only 19, i obviously missed out on some of the best of the crazy george steinbrenner years, i hope his kids keep it coming, nothing is worse than a dead rivalry (not that it was becoming dead), obviously I want the red sox to be the haves compared to the have nots for all those years, and for good measure if the Dtrain can pull it together in the AL the tigers are easily the team for the sox to fear the most

Well, I tried to nab some tickets to see the White Sox at Comerica Park, but the Tigers ticketing system is completely overloaded. :hmm

It took me 25 minutes just to get out of the "virtual waiting room," and then it still wasn't processing ticket requests ... by the time I got one to go through, there were no seats left for what I wanted.

FUCK! :angry

You might want to try again -- my girlfriend was trying to by Sox @ Tigers tickets all morning and had the same problems you did, and then tried again an hour ago and we got tickets for the April 5th game, and not even bad ones. I think a lot of them were probably being held while people looked for tickets but then not all of them ended up being bought.

The Cubs have had a variety of injuries this spring. So far' date=' infielder Mark DeRosa was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat, pitcher Jose Ascanio had a bruised face after getting punched in a robbery attempt, and [b']outfielder Felix Pie missed a couple of days early because of a twisted testicle[/b]. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez remains sidelined with a sore right shoulder.

How does one twist a testicle? :unsure

Was he trying to pivot, planted his testicle, and lost his "footing"? I just don't get this one.

Testicular torsion, it's called. If caught early enough the testicle survives. If not, well....

I think it has to do with blood flow.

75 for the Rays in that division seems like 3 or 4 too many... I think they've got a nice, young team that's gonna win a lot of games in a couple of years, but for 2008 I'll take the under.

I'm sure bobbob's gonna be psyched about the Marlins' over/under being 69.

I'll take the over on:

Baltimore (I'd pin them at 68-70)

Cinci (80-82)

I'll take the under on:

White Sox (75-80)

Detroit (89-92)

Yankees (89-92)

Seattle (80-84)

Toronto (81-85)

Everything else looks about right.

I'll take the over on the Rays. I think they'll be better than that. And the under on FLA.

My only concern is that they've got 30+ games against the Yanks & the Red Sox, but I like their players. People forget about Baldelli... if only he could stay healthy. Get them out of that damn mausoleum they play in! Sketches for their new ballpark look quite nice, hope it happens.
