gogo
According to the rules on AI's website, the criteria is that the contestants not currently have a recording contract. Any previous professional background does not disqualify them. Some of my family were saying last year that Melinda shouldn't have been eligible for the show, since she previously had a professional singing career. But if the line is drawn, then it's drawn. Some people might not think that's the best place to draw that line, but I don't have a problem with that being the standard. If you're saying that the voting is rigged, then that's different. I don't buy it, though. It's hard for me to believe that the American people would elect Bush president, but it seems that yes, it really happened (at least once...). So I have no trouble believing that the American people could vote off Chikezie, no matter how much my 9 year old nephew loved him.

I actually think she's one of the few finalists that could have some semblance of a career beyond Idol.

Lammycat
I don't understand the Brooke hate among some people. I actually think she's one of the few finalists that could have some semblance of a career beyond Idol.I'm with you on this. I think she does decent shit on the piano and has a pleasant enough voice. Her timidness is annoying though. I bet she likes to get spanked.
gogo
Her timidness is annoying though. This is my problem with Brooke. That whole "emotional fragility" bit got really old really fast. I have no opinion on whether or not she'd like to be spanked, though.

I have no opinion on whether or not she'd like to be spanked, though. I don't think it was a "bit," though. I think you could argue that it is a potential flaw for a performer or artist to have, but I think the emotions were genuine and heartfelt. Which is a lot more than anyone can say for robotic little Archuleta and Syesha (her Miss America-type answer to Seacrest's question about choosing songs was ridiculous). gogo
Yeah, that was poorly phrased. I don't think it was a bit, but I do think that she needed to learn to control it better than she was. It was the lack of control over her emotions in the interviews, judging, etc., that I thought detracted from her often-decent performances. And then sometimes, her performances were just embarassingly bad.
marino13
Did anyone notice that David Cook sprung off of the couch and thought Natasha Bedingfield was coming to talk to him instead of Archuleta? That was funny.
marino13
Aw, I'm a Jason fan. David Archuleta, on the other hand... Can't stand to watch David Archuleta. They keep referring to him as the prodigy like he's a little kid. I understand he's like two foot tall and acts like he's never interacted with people before, but the guy will be 18 in December. Most people consider that an adult. His whole shock/surprise act when he finds out he's safe or gets compliments is getting old too. The kid stalked Kelly Clarkson in a hotel lobby and forced her to listen to him sing. He is not lacking confidence.
LouieB
This is going to come down to Syesha and David A in the end. Sadly we have to put up with Jason one more week. So long Brooke...she was getting by on minimal skills on piano and her stunning good looks for several weeks now. LouieB

Wilco Worshipper
I think David A pulled out ALL the stops tonight. EDIT: Yes, I actually watched or listened to both of his performances in their entirety this evening.

j4lackey
At long last....Jason is toast...I dunno. There are a lot of teenage girls with phones. I actually felt so sorry for him when he forgot the words to Tambourine Man. Syesha's got so much more of what it takes to be a star than all the rest, I can't understand why Simon blows her so much shit. Plus, David C, 90 seconds of Baba O'Riley is not really worth bothering with. Yea okay..I can see that also. Pearl Jam vs the munchkins....
lamradio
I can't understand why Simon blows her so much shit. I think it's because she's just kind of plain. Yes, she's a very talented singer/performer, but she's just nothing special... I still don't see how Carly got voted off before her. That girl had some pipes.. Jason is definitely toast.. Bob was rolling over in his grave last night. He butchered that song.
LouieB
Jason has been bad since day one. He is getting by on his looks and not much else. David C is also toast. He couldn't even rock the rock songs last night. Kind of said. This year is sort of petering out. Syesha was my pick from day one. LouieB
lamradio
David C is also toast. He couldn't even rock the rock songs last night. LouieB Really? I thought he did great as always.. The judges adore him.. He's been my pick from day 1.
j4lackey
I was a Chuckezie (sp?) man.
Lammycat
As much as I don't think he'll win, I had Archuleta pegged to win it all from the get-go. I kind of liked Brooke, though. Her doe-eyed lamb gig got stale, though. If Castro comes back for next week it's rigged.
Wilco Worshipper
I was a Chuckezie (sp?) man. I was SOOO a fan of good ol' Chikezie!!! Hopefully, he'll get something good out of it anyway.
