Party boy Corey most downloaded

TEEN party pest Corey has been a top-rating US news story as the tale of his riotous Narre Warren party amused and shocked global audiences.

On a busy news day where Republican US presidential hopefuls contested the Michigan primary, President George W Bush visited the Middle East and Wall St suffered a large fall, the story about a Melbourne teenager wild night topped them all.

American news giant CNN said the story about the party - organised by 16-year-old Corey - while his parents were away on a Queesnsland holiday - was the most downloaded on its website today.

The party in suburban Narre Warren on Saturday night saw police cars and neighbours' property damaged.

Dozens of police officers, a helicopter and the dog squad had to be called in to restore the peace.

News readers on other US TV networks, ABC and NBC, chuckled on air and shook their heads after they ran the story on their bulletins.

Police are deciding whether to bill him $20,000 to cover the cost of the police response and the damage done.

Yesterday, the story was a top performer on British media sites, including the BBC's website.

The publicity deluge comes as Corey brags of cashing in on his notoriety and demanding free CDs and concert tickets in exchange for interviews.

The 16-year-old runaway party host, who is ignoring pleas from his parents to come home, fled from a radio station this morning when a host tried to remove his yellow sunglasses.

He later returned to complete the Fox FM interview. Herald Sun Online understands Corey was paid $750 for the appearance.

"It might be a bit naive but we'd like to think Corey will put this money towards covering his repair costs," Austereo Melbourne general manager Ben Amarfio said.

Rival station Nova program director Todd Campbell said this morning they knocked back Corey's demands for $900 - $300 each for him and two mates - and CDs and concert tickets for the entire year in exchange for an appearance.

"He told us that's the offer you have to beat," Mr Campbell said.

"But we felt given he is under 18 and his parents want to contact him that it was not a matter to be chucking cash at."

Outraged radio listeners today accused the teen of disrespect, a charge Corey disputed.

"I have respect for people but if they don't show respect for me then I'm not going show respect for them,'' he said.

When one listener asked what he had hoped to achieve, he replied: "Nothing really, just a good time and a party and all this has just happened.''

Meanwhile, Nine's A Current Affair has denied giving Corey cash for comment or stashing him in a hotel at night.

"The only thing we have paid for is a cab for him to get home, and we even wrote Narre Warren on the cab slip,'' reporter Nick Etchells said.

TV challenger Today Tonight has also denied paying Corey's parents.

Corey's parents are appealing for their son to come home and face the music. The cocky 16-year-old who held a riotous party has been evading furious Jo and Steve Delaney since their hasty return from Queensland on Monday.

And an unrepentant Corey said he had no intention of going home to face his parents anytime soon.

"I'm not gonna go home if they're gonna go crazy at me. Don't really want to," he told A Current Affair last night. "I'm going out tomorrow night with my mates and stuff."

He also said he had no plans to stop partying.

"I'm having another one in two weeks. Another big party, just not at home but," Corey said.

He also confirmed he'd been offered up to $2000 to organise another party.

"Nova asked me to go on there and some people asked me to host some parties," Corey said.

"One guy in Queensland asked me to throw a party for them and all that 'cause it'd be good publicity."

But Corey's parents are still fuming over his antics.

"We've got to move forward and fix the problem," an upset Mr Delaney told the Herald Sun yesterday.

Mr Delaney said Corey had been rejecting their phone calls.

"We're still waiting. We're asking to speak to him," he said. "Have enough guts.

"You've been a show pony long enough. You should be ashamed."

At least 30 police, the dog squad and the airwing helicopter were called to disperse the drunken, 500strong crowd that massed at the Delaney's Narre Warren home on Corey's open house invitation.

An overwhelming 80 per cent of Herald Sun Voteline respondents - 3821 from 4761 - say his parents should be made to cover the $20,000 police bill.

Police may be asked to investigate claims Corey charged fees of between $1 and $10 for entry to the Saturday night bash.

Sonia, the mother of one party-goer, said that some youths had been hit with a cover charge.

"He was charging a gold coin to get in then, after the gates closed, they put it up to $10 to get in," Sonia said.

Corey looks set to cash in on his notoriety.

He has done a deal with Zoo Weekly magazine and party promoters say he could earn up to $10,000 working for them.

"Corey did a great job in the wrong place - I think he'd be very successful," said Tim Sabre, director of Raw Entertainment.

"We're prepared to put him in as a party promoter - organise an underage party and have him as host."

House of Pain Records boss Raed Melki, a confessed attention seeker once notorious for pestering record industry figures, said Corey could pocket thousands for a night's work.

"He's got character," said the event promoter.

"Quite a few clubs would be interested in having him because he got 500 people all the way out there."

The story has made international headlines as debate raged over whether the teen is a legend or a loser.

One contributor to Herald Sun Online said: "Two words. Military school."

Another said: "Corey you legend! You're a modern day Ferris Bueller mate."

It's great to see other adults, RAW industries or whoever they are, the folks that offered him a job, well, it's great to see them trying to cash in on his behavior - seriously, I fucking hate people.

The worst thing that could ever happen to this asshole is to be ignored, narcissistic little punk would pitch a fucking fit.

I also love how the interviewer is acting all sanctimonious, while also cashing in on this piece of shit of a story of course.

Damn, I need to quit skimming ahead when I'm reading (and get my schadenfreude in check too).
