HighFives
http://sendmedeadflowers.com/2008/02/velve...-gymnasium.html It's the ONLY available live stuff from 1967 and has only become available in literally the last two days. Recorded just after the release of The Velvet Underground And Nico and featuring the debut performance of Sister Ray (19 mins long) and the *previously unheard* song I'm Not A Young Man Any More. That's right, A NEW VELVET UNDERGROUND SONG. pretty good recording, grab it from the link above 1. I'm Not A Young Man Anymore (previously unheard VU song) 2. Guess I'm Falling In Love 3. I'm Waiting For The Man 4. Run Run Run 5. Sister Ray (debut live performance)

Oil Can Boyd
'The Velvet Underground & Nico' to receive six-disc 45th anniversary re-release http://www.nme.com/news/the-velvet-underground/65119 The reissue celebrates the 1967 album's 45th anniversary. The six discs will include the original stereo and mono versions, as well as Nico's 'Chelsea Girl' and two live discs taken from a show at the Valleydale Ballroom in Columbus, Ohio. Jimbo Jones
I really wish they would just make the live set available separately. This is just a blatant cash grab. I own almost all of the rest of the package in various formats and don't want to pay an exorbinant price for the live material. This is why the record industry and sales are in such decline. Nothing is ever done with the fans in mind.
Mr. Heartbreak
Let's see...I bought the album on vinyl in the 80s...bought the CD in the 90s...then got the reissue. Nope, I will not be springing for this either.
uncool2pillow
Yep, like Geo. Lucas, Lou Reed has enough of my $$.
LouieB
Really. I have the original first two LPs, LP reissues and all the rest of the LPs, and the box set. Enough is enough. LouieB
Mr. Heartbreak
I guess this is the closest thing we have to a Velvet Underground thread around here, so it's is where I'll put this: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/the-velvet-underground-to-reissue-white-light-white-heat-20131001?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter

Oil Can Boyd
I know there is lots of discussion on the Dylan thread about emptying the archives, but the Velvet Underground are getting pretty good at it too. A box set of the Complete Matrix Tapes is being released: http://pitchfork.com/news/61429-the-velvet-underground-the-complete-matrix-tapes-box-set-to-be-released/

Oil Can Boyd
Anyone got some money to blow? Sotheby's is auctioning of some of Lou Reed's original type written Velvet Underground lyrics. They estimate this set will go for between $150,000 and $200,000. http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2016/rock-roll-n09587/lot.112.html
