Sir Stewart
i agree leaks are inevitable, but when it's a release that happens like this, and when it's f'n iTunes that "leaks" it early, that would piss me the fuck off and is kinda lame imo. Apple probably did it on purpose. What happened with iTunes?

Sir Stewart
Wow, that is fucked up.
benjamin
Any thoughts on the disk? So far it's a bit of a disappointment to me.
Kalle
I don't know I can't even tell yet, think it's a "grower" but then again any album that doesn't hit you in the head is considered one.
Elixir Sue
You know, I'm a big fan of Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler, Jack Lawrence and of course, Jack White. On paper, I should love this band...but it's just not doing it for me. I didn't love Broken Boy Soldiers, and so far, I'm not loving the new one. One listen is never enough for me to make a final decision, though, so I'll keep listening...
TheMaker
Agreed, totally, although I have yet to even listen to the whole disc. The motivation just isn't there. Q: What do you get when you mix equal parts White and Benson, but sand off all the rough edges and flashes of innovation that make them great on their own? A: Boring music. solace
this one is more interesting than BBS musically, but lacks the pop hooks & Brendan influence that album had. at least they're fabulous live...
DAngerer09
Any thoughts on the disk? So far it's a bit of a disappointment to me. I think tracks 3 through 7 are fantastic. The rest is just kinda so so for me.
DAngerer09
this one is more interesting than BBS musically, but lacks the pop hooks & Brendan influence that album had. I agree that it is more interesting musically, but I don't know man, Brenden has some really really solid tracks on here. "Old Enough" is pretty damn catchy and "The Switch and the Spur" is an interesting song, and his vocals are great on that. And "Top Yourself" is pretty catchy for a Jack White tune. anyone know when brenden's solo album is supposed to come out?
solace
oh it's got a few great pop hooks, no doubt, but overall the first one seems catchier to me as for Brendan's next solo record, who knows... HOPEFULLY this year though. i've got a few rough demos that are quite good.
bobbob1313
True, but I feel like they seem like more of a band now. The first record feels like a side project, and this one feels like they are a fully committed band.
MrRain422
I'm digging it a lot actually. It's not as catchy but a lot more textured and I think will have more staying power than their first album.

DAngerer09
As I've listened a few more times, I'm actually starting to like it a lot. I agree Mr. Rain that this album will have more 'staying power' than their first. Or, at least I can see myself coming back to listen to this one more than their first. Moe_Syzlak
After one listen, You Don't Understand Me, Old Enough, The Switch and the Spur, and Carolina Drama are the stand-outs for me. I feel like a lot of this album sounds a lot more like the White Stripes than Broken Boy Soldiers did. BBS was one of my favorite albums of '06. So far, this one isn't grabbing immediately the way that one did, but perhaps, as has been said, this one is more of a grower.
stooka
I appreciate some of the guitarwork, but as a whole this record is so-so. Trimming the tracks down to 10 might also help. Rich Kid Blues sounds like Styx
CortezTheKiller
Definitely has a more ragged and looser feel than BBS. I like that it rocks more and is less poppy.
jakobnicholas
I bought the disc and have listened abut 4 times. I really like it. No way of knowing if it's something I'll like years from now, but I love listening to it right now. The band just brings it! And White sounds in top form. It's kind of raw, kind of ragged, kind of pretty with some of the keyboards. I even like some of the more bizarre songs with the trumpets. Very ballsy sounding. I'm hoping to go to one of their upcoming shows.....I've got a strong hunch this band is gonna blow the doors off most joints. "Five on Five" might be worth the 35 dollar ticket alone to hear live. I listened to Consolers... again today, and it's really growing on me.
jakobnicholas
I'm really, really loving this record right now. Surprised it's not getting more run. Anyone else?
CortezTheKiller
More run?
jakobnicholas
More run? I think I got that from Jim Rome. It just seems like the album got released without much fanfare....not just here. Many reviews seem average to slightly above average. I think it's one of the better albums released this year.....but what do I know?!
myboyblue
I think it's one of the better albums released this year.....but what do I know?! I don't know either...you listent to Jim Rome. I bought the album on Thursday (couldn't hold out E-sue). I think it's great. I've only had a chance to listen a couple of times thus far but have liked what I've heard. Definitely a bit more rock than pop as compared to the last one but it's working for these ears. I have yet to see a formal review of it. Hell, most decent music magazines are evidently out of business now.
