John Smith
To me this smacks of election year politics. What we may be viewing here is a wedge issue specifically designned to bring out the religious rigght, much the way the whole "gay marriage" issue was elevated shortly before the 2004 elections. Atticus
That's very un-American, it is your duty to worry about what other people can or cannot do, whether it has any effect on you personally or not. I bet he doesn't even vote correctly

I'd agree with your point except for the fact that the right-wingers were spot on on the gay marriage issue, with their "slippery slope" message. I can't walk down the street these days without seeing some man-hamster-man or infant-tranny-ction-parrot marriage. it's fucking sick.

Good Old Neon
This country wasn't founded on the principles of NAMBLA or the Klan. True - but are you essentially saying this is an endorsement of one form of religion? We also have laws governing the seperation of church and state.

Good Old Neon
Look, you and I both know the group sponsoring this bill would be up in arms if the state was considering a Gay Pride license plate. Ellsworth summed it up well: ellsworth All of these specialty plates should be banned. It is a license plate meant to show that your car is legally registered with a state government, not a metal bumpersticker to tout your preferences and interests. The plates should have nothing but the state and county name along with the number. The idea that plates can have messages is absurd and only leads to problems like the "Choose Life" - if you are supporting adoption then why doesn't it say "Adopt A Child" - plate and other bullshit like this "I Believe" nonsense. It is a government issued registration indicator and should serve no other purpose. Only in America! I

Good Old Neon
I don't think NAMBLA (which endorses illegal behavior) or the Klan qualify as charitable or religious institutions under federal tax law, so it's kind of like comparing apples to child molestors. Well, considering the Catholic Church

Tell me about Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, Jay, Monroe, etc... and how they strove to create a christian nation in the image of god.. I'm dying to hear these fallicious arguments one more time. Good Old Neon
not so fast treelover. The Catholic church does not promote man-boy entry. It actively conceals it. You are young and so I understand how some of these subtle nuances are lost on you. Promote, conceal, let us not get hung up on petty semantics. To paraphrase David Cross: "So, I don't know about you guys, but in the last couple of years, the Catholic church has gotten a whole lot sexier!"
