lamradio
07/19 Ashville, NC | Orange Peel | The Nels Cline Singers I'm there.. Ready for a strange and wonderful night of music.
Three dollars and 63 cents
Knoxville and Asheville seem doable for me. I love that by "doable" I mean "it's only a 9 hour drive to get there, and another 9 back." I'm hopeful they may tack on another date or two after Asheville, though Nels has to be in Alaska with Wilco a few days after that.
solace
oh wow, those shows w/ Charlie Hunter will rule
Three dollars and 63 cents
Yeah, those shows will definitely be great. I saw an amazing lineup of the Scott Amendola Band in April with Charlie, Nels, and Jenny Scheinman. I could've listened to them for hours.

kimcatch22
You're an enabler You can seriously be in auto-pilot zonked-out post-Nels driving mode from Nashville to Knoxville. It's one road!
aricandover
07/18 Knoxville, TN | Bijou Theater | The Nels Cline Singers I hope that place isn't anything like the Bijou in Chicago
Three dollars and 63 cents
Two more to add: 07/14 Austin, TX | Stubbs | The Nels Cline Singers07/15 Little Rock, AR | The Rev Room | The Nels Cline Singers
bböp
07/14 Austin, TX | Stubbs | The Nels Cline Singers They must be playing indoors at Stubb's. I can't imagine them playing the big outdoor stage since it's 1) huge and 2) surely going to be hot as hell.
lost highway
Man, I got excited. Then I found out they're opening for the Charlie Hunter Trio both dates in CO. And it's $23. Maybe next time.

mdpoet
I was hoping for a few shows in the northeast from them, but it doesn't look like there's going to be time later this year. They've said they're going to tour more often, though, so hopefully they'll schedule some shows closer to home for me sometime next year. We were wishing for some northeast dates too. We were blown away by these guys at the Charlottesville show and can't wait to see them again.

lamradio
I may have to road trip for this. Not sure yet. My wife and I got tickets the other day. You should go. There's a Barley's Taproom across the street from The Orange Peel. It's a great place to enjoy a before the show.

It's a great place to enjoy a before the show. I'm definitely thinking about it, but I want to see the Old 97's in Charlotte that next weekend and not sure if i can swing both shows. I love the Orange Peel but I'm a little surprised they're playing there. I've been to that Taproom, but my fave place in Asheville is Tupelo Honey Cafe.
Three dollars and 63 cents
Folks who know Asheville, can you suggest a reasonably priced and safe hotel? I'm thinking about that Sleep Inn suggested on the Orange Peel site, or the Days Inn near the mall. I don't need anything fancy, but I'm wondering if there are places I should avoid. I wish I would've asked this prior to going to Ann Arbor last month

I wish I would've asked this prior to going to Ann Arbor last month I've only been to Asheville a couple times, but the area around the mall and The Orange Peel should be fine for lodging. I know of a couple shady hotels, but the Days In and Sleep Inn should be fine.
watch me fall
I don't usually stay in a hotel when I visit Asheville, but I have stayed at the Hampton Inn before. It was kind of expensive, but it was peak leaf season at that time I think.
Three dollars and 63 cents
For anybody heading to next week's shows who hasn't heard the Singers before, you can listen to their show in Montreal last month here. It was an amazing set--I highly recommend it! I'm looking forward to hitting the road again next week
