insideoutoflove
I'll be in Paris from July 22-29 and am looking for your top 5 must sees..I've been to Paris before so I've done the big things (Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, etc) but it's been awhile so I'm willing to revisit anything worthwhile. Any suggestions?? I've got to fit it all in in 5 days! I'll also be spending one day in Amsterdam before flying home (no flights available out of Paris so we have to take the train to Amsterdam and fly out from there) so if you have any strong opinions on what I should see that one precious day then lemme have it! There's a great fondue restaurant in Montmartre. http://www.vcarious.com/Restaurant/France/...desFondues.html it was very affordable (ok it was 5 years ago when i went) and a lot of fun. unlimited wine, chese, and frozen sorbet in a lemon or orange. it's tiny and has so much personality. i would also suggest the catacombs. these are a bit creepy. when the plagues hit Paris, they had a to relocate the remains underground and the result is several miles of tunnels with bones stacked neatly in various ways. it's quite the climb down and quite the trek, and not for the faint of heart, because it is after all stacks of human remains in a tiny cramped dark space, but there is something peaceful and serene about it and historically fascinating. i admit when i got to the entrance, it took me 15 minutes before i would actually enter. gogo
The Rodin Museum!
redpillbox
I would REALLY suggest the Parais Lachaise (spelling that wrong) cemetary...great, great way to spend an afternoon walk. Fantastic. Also, the resting places of Chopin, Wilde, Jim Morrison, etc. That last bit gives it a bit of a touristy trap feeling, but it really isn't. Grab a baguette and some fresh cheese at the local bakery and take it there.

insideoutoflove
thanks guys--this helps a lot! a lot of these were on my "preliminary" list, just from things ive read on websites and whatnot--you guys have sold me on a lot of them though...the rodin museum is a definite yes, as ive heard good things from multiple people. the catacombs sound awesome as well, though im not sure my mom will be able to handle it..(im taking her with me for her summer vacation). the pere lachaise cemetery sounds amazing, i was hoping someone would confirm that as a worthwhile stop--all of these sound great. hopefully i can fit it all in!! Doug C
All of the places mentioned are essential, well I've never been to the Morrison Cemetery in all of my visits, so I'd add the Catacombs http://www.catacombes-de-paris.fr/english.htm . But then the wife and I like bones/ossuarys(ies?). Speaking of which, if you are ever in the czech republic, the bone church in Kutna Hora is a must http://www.discoverczech.com/kutna-hora/os...one-church.php4 Amsterdam in a day? Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum and http://www.greyarea.nl/

Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum and http://www.greyarea.nl/I agree about Kutna Hora. I don't think my girlfriend was as enthusiastic though. I once had a 7 hour layover in Amsterdam with a friend that hadn't been there before. We put our backpacks in a locker at the airport and took the train into town. I took her to the Rijksmseum, the Van Gogh Museum, some park by the Van Gogh were we rested for about 40 minutes, then the Anne Frank House and a cafe for a beer--not a smoke . We did it all by foot so you definitely can see a lot in a short period of time. I believe we also went through the red light district.
