CortezTheKiller
Picked it up on vinyl this summer. An all-time classic. I like Exile more, but Bleed is closer to the true essence of The Stones. If someone who had never heard of The Rolling Stones wanted to know about them, this is the record I'd play them.

lizish
Â Not sure that the band's music is my thing, but full marks for the name.

lizish
Calexico - Carried to Dust. Â Bridg - I'm liking this a lot more than that last one. 'Course, I LOVED all the previous albums, so a bit less poppy-ness is IMHO, much better.

solace
Calexico - Carried to Dust.  Bridg - I'm liking this a lot more than that last one. 'Course, I LOVED all the previous albums, so a bit less poppy-ness is IMHO, much better. while Garden Ruin was definitely poppier and lacked much of the southewest flair, i felt the songwriting on that album was still pretty f'n great (All Systems Red might be my favorite Calexico song ever...). so far i like that this is more "back to their roots" so to speak, but songwriting wise i don't know if it's up there w/ Garden Ruin (and earlier ones obvs) for me, i've only listened 3-4x tho. I'll have to start reading more interviews and stuff on the new album, but for me the high point in writing was 'Across the wire' and the flooded infant burial ground/garbage dump. Can't get too much more poignant.

Artifice
 Well not actually. Actually, I'm just tearing through playlists on my PC, and came to the Star demos that I just recently found on Tanya Donnelly's website.  Star Demos Had a really nice moment just now, listening to White Belly. Holy crap, but that one is raw, and in a good way. Really love how that sounds. Anyway, carry on...
