David Duchovny has checked into rehab to undergo treatment for sex addiction, E! News has confirmed.

"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," Duchovny said in a statement released Thursday by his attorney, Stanton "Larry" Stein. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

I take this to mean he's cheated on his wife numerous times, and racked up (Christie Brinkley's ex) Peter Cook sized porn bills.

Sex addiction is really a serious problem for some. As with other addictions (drugs, booze, twinkies), it's incredibly dangerous to find yourself consumed with unhealthy urges and unable to control them. A person can do a lot of damage to themselves, the people in their life, and their relationships if they don't seek some treatment. It's a serious thing...anyone who has had experience with it, personally or a loved one, knows what I'm saying. That being said, David Duchovny is insanely hot and I'd totally do him.

i'm familiar with many addictions -- some not even diagnosed yet! :lol

most of them are better known as "life."

"addiction" is one of those words that may have crossed the line into overuse. some addictions are all too real and do require treatment, but where does addiction end and responsibility begin? like with this guy.
