Kyjygyfyf
Set List: Via ChicagoImpossible GermanyYou Are My FaceSpidersHummingbirdJesus, etc.Forget the FlowersWalkenI'm the Man who Loves You Pretty straightforward set. Wilco came out around 8:45 and played for 45-50 minutes. Seemed to have a decent amount of crowd support, too. They were just starting to get into a groove once I'm the Man was played, so it was a shame to see them leave. But got to see Neil instead! Jesus H. Christ that man can still play. Love Boat Captain
A great night...even thought Everest was good. In taking a look back at the crowd from the GA area, it seemed MSG was pretty full for Wilco, so if added exposure was the goal, it looks like they accomplished it. The dissonance is still ringing in my ears:). Not sure if he has done this for each finale, but Old Black had no strings attached and were being tapped on the pickups at the end of "A Day In The Life". I can only hope to rock as hard as Neil when I hit that age:) For anyone who is considering going, if last night is any barometer, there are plenty of seats to be found, as the sellers far outnumbered the buyers. It's a late one (Neil wrapped around 12:30 a.m.), but well worth it. Now, off to pump more coffee into my veins.
dmait
Yes, there were quite a few empty seats, so it's worthwhile to take a shot tonight. Everest was very impressive. I knew nothing about them before the show and now am a believer. They could turn on a dime from slightly spacey, noisy jams back to the song. And all with three- and four-part harmonies. I'm going to have to keep an eye on these guys. I highly recommend catching them. Plus, the place is about 10% full when they take the stage, so you can sit just about next to the stage. It was about 2/3 full when Wilco started, so you could still pick your seat. I agree that they were really grooving with I'm the Man, so it was a shame to see it end. They had a lot of support from the crowd. The setlist was nearly identical to the previous two opening sets. Neil was Neil. It's like watching Mt. Rushmore with a guitar. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere was tremendous. Here's the setlist from the show as posted on Dime (http://www.dimeadozen.org//torrents-details.php?id=227463): 1. Love And Only Love > Hey Hey, My My 2. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere 3. Powderfinger 4. Spirit Road 5. Cortez The Killer 6. Cinnamon Girl 7. Oh, Lonesome Me 8. Mother Earth 9. The Needle And The Damage Done 10. Light A Candle 11. "Cough Up The Bucks$" 12. Fuel Line 13. "Hit The Road And Go To Town" 14. Unknown Legend 15. Heart Of Gold 16. Old Man 17. Get Back To The Country 18. "Off The Road" 19. Just Singing A Song 20. When Worlds Collide 21. Cowgirl In The Sand 22. Rockin' In The Free World --- 23. "Get Behind The Wheel" 24. A Day In The Life
brown eyes dreaming
Wilco was great - good song selection to try to draw new fans. I was on the floor (about 20 rows back and center between Jeff and John) and thought the sound was better for Wilco than for Neil. Wonder how it sounded in the seats. Seemed like the crowd got fired up during Spiders. Some guys standing near us who never saw (or heard) Wilco before said they really enjoyed the performance. Hummingbird was just lovely last night - couldn't stop smiling I was surprised at how much room there was in GA - even after Neil took the stage. And, not too many altercations where we were standing.
Lammycat
Has Neil invited Jeff out to collaborate on any tunes this tour? I'm thinking "Walk On?"

bböp
Everest invited the Watson Twins out to sing with them on a couple of songs. Apparently one of the Everests is married to one of the Twins. Not sure what this really has to do with anything, but anyway. Also, did anyone spot the Donald at the show? He was sitting with a couple of younger guys in the first tier at stage left and flanked by at least of couple of bodyguards/goons. (Thanks for pointing him out, Doug, and good to meet you!) Wonder if Mr. Trump hung around for Neil's entire set? I'm guessing not.
pmancini100
were awesome. wilco sounded great, and then neil just rocked. he covered a day in the life, which was awesome. at the end, all the strings broke on his guitar and it was just feeding back like crazy. beer cost 8 bucks. dmait
>Has Neil invited Jeff out to collaborate on any tunes this tour? I'm thinking "Walk On?" I haven't heard about any collaborations at all on the tour, which is a shame, but not unexpected. Nels would blend in quite well with Neil's band. I wonder if Neil is even in the building during Wilco's set. I'd like to know how Everest was chosen to open. Neil's management must have some input.

mfwahl
How Everest knows Neil Young:The band members started by seeking employment at Young's Vapor Records. Then a few demos were passed along end Young's manager Elliot Roberts came down to Everest's studio to hear some rough mixes of the album, which resulted in a deal. "Neil saw us perform shortly after and was pleased to know that Elliot had added us to the Vapor family," Pollard says. Since then, Young has tapped the band to open shows for him in Ireland, Holland and the U.K. They will also support Shakey on his forthcoming North American tour. "It's a really big deal for us, we're honored!"

Lukestar
Trump hearts Neil..... http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/inde...s-donald-trump/ When asked what he thought of Wilco...Trump replied "I think they really brought the rock, very marketable. Which one was Roger?"
