yermom
I'm crazy about the backwards guitar bit on The Beatles' "I'm Only Sleeping." Where can I find this magical sound on other songs/albums (be they Beatles or otherwise)?
PopTodd
I think there is some on:Jimi Hendrix - "Are You Experienced"
Lammycat
Hendrix: "Castles Made of Sand" I think the RHCP may have used it on "Give it Away," too.
m_thomp
The Stone Roses did this a lot, not just guitar but the whole songs. Probably used to best effect, with guitar being the best element, on 'Don't Stop' which is a backwards version of 'Waterfall', albeit with new lead vocal and added cowbell. Is the guitar solo on The Byrds' 'Change Is Now' in reverse? I always thought that was, what about 'Dolphin's Smile' too.
moxiebean
Clash - "London Calling"
Atticus
if you like backwards-speaking midgets I'd suggest Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
mountain bed
The Byrds' song "Mind Gardens" (Crosby tune, on Younger Than Yesterday) is chock-full of backwards guitar. One of the trippiest things I've ever heard.
bjorn_skurj
if you like backwards-speaking midgets I'd suggest Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.Yes. That movie is way underrated.
yermom
Hendrix: "Castles Made of Sand"Oh yeaaaah, I should have recalled that one! Man, that's a great song. Lots of good suggestions folks. Thanks! (I've seen the backwards talking midgets before too. They don't illicit quite the same reaction in my heart, but they've got their place.)
Synthesizer Patel
the midget is speaking forwards really. it's just that he spoke backwards and then they reversed it to make him speak forwards again and, seeing as how nobody is quite as good at speaking backwards as they are fowards, it naturally sounds very weird. i can speak sideways.
