cryptique
Not sure what to make of this. I'm guessing I'll watch it regardless. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jon Stewart to Make History Special 'The Naturalized' highlights the network's most ambitious programming slate By Marisa Guthrie -- Broadcasting & Cable, 5/11/2009 12:00:00 AM MT Jon Stewart, who knows a thing or two about irony, will create a two-hour special on a perfect target

Sir Stewart
I could do without Lewis Black. He was funny when he first came to prominence, now I can't stand his twitching and yelling for more than 30 seconds at time.
bobbob1313
The special he did on the history of comedy for them was really good, I thought.

Analogman
It use to be good. If they are now turning to comedians for shows, maybe they have ran out of biker gang shows, and Bigfoot documentaries.

More Modern Marvels, less Logjammers or whatever that lame show is called. And this might not be a rating bonanza, but how about some shows about history instead of UFO Hunters. Analogman
I like the show where the dude digs around under the streets - but I don't care for the fast paced editing. Whatever happened to the dude who they dressed up as Indiana Jones and sent around to various places? At least it's not all WWI German documentaries now. We use to call it The Hitler Channel years ago. Of course, most people don't want to watch a bunch of long boring documentaries about some wacky junk that happened in the past. That is why they are changing their programming yet again. The same thing happened to A&E and Bravo, they had good stuff, and then the reality show era came along, so they had to keep current. I don't get the lumber show at all. I live in a state that got KO'd by lumber companies back in the day, and also, most people don't want to watch other people destroy nature. I am curious to who the audience is for that show. I should say that I don't care for either one of those comedians, or their style of comedy. I have heard that the Sci-Fi channel is changing their name, as well as, their programming.

Ditched the cable (and virtually all of tv) five years ago. Now if I want to learn anything about history (or anything else), I read about it.
OOO
I have heard that the Sci-Fi channel is changing their name, as well as, their programming. Yeah, they are changing it to SyFy and it's one of the more stupid ideas I've heard of. Apparently SyFy sounds less geeky.

Now if I want to learn anything about history (or anything else), I read about it. I call it the Crime and Punishment Channel. I figured The History Channel was going that way with all the biker gang shows. I also miss the deal where they would show a movie, and then some dudes would talk about the historical accuracy of it. Sir Stewart
A&E is the worst station going. When I watch The Sopranos, the ads for every single A&E show look like one big shark sandwich. Who the f@&k wants to watch a show like The Exterminators?

Who the f@&k wants to watch a show like The Exterminators? It use to be cool. I have a lot of music stuff that a taped off of that channel. I'd say the parking ticket show is the worst. Sir Stewart
A&E really did stand for Arts & Entertainment at one time, I do remember. The ad for the parking tickets show - I saw that once at my in-laws and sort of embarrassed myself with a display of incredulousness. WTF.

ih8music
It's nice to hear how terrible cable TV is since I'm finally getting cable on Saturday.some shows on cable are terrible - but you also have shows like Breaking Bad on AMC, which is beyond terrific.
Analogman
That is another show I don't understand the appeal of. I read some books about Ellis Island a while back - not a fun place to be.
ih8music
That is another show I don't understand the appeal of.I dunno - to each his own, but great writing + great acting + interesting/unique storyline = winner in my book.
The High Heat
A&E really did stand for Arts & Entertainment at one time, I do remember.Early 90's, I'd watch the original Letterman shows, "Evening at the Improv," plus the two/three seasons of "Law & Order," which were like mini-movies back then. The "Indifference" episode still spooks the shit out of me!If I remember right, the original "Fugitive" show was on A&E.Do they still have "City Confidential?" I've lived in two of the cities featured on that show. Damned famous murderers won't stay away from me.
The High Heat
I'd say the parking ticket show is the worst.Yes, but it's true. The Philly Parking Authority is a bitch. I've seen them slap that "boot" on myself! Takes seconds and they do target expensive cars, so at least we can be content that the majority of the "oppressed" are real-life douchebags. When I go to Philly, I leave the car in a garage and walk.
