remphish1
I kind of get where they are coming from but this seems a little crazy. Could be worse if people don't know where they are going?! http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/21/new-jersey-bill-aims-to-ban-drivers-use-of-gps-while-driving/?icid=main|htmlws-main|dl4|link6|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autoblog.com%2F2009%2F06%2F21%2Fnew-jersey-bill-aims-to-ban-drivers-use-of-gps-while-driving%2F
bjorn_skurj
Why don't we just ban driving while driving?
Spawn's dad
Messing with a GPS while driving is more difficult than texting. Particularly since it's pressed up against the windshield. Pretty sure the idea is that they want people to pull over first.
Good Old Neon
I have mixed feelings about this – on the one hand, restrictions like this are a little too draconian for my liking, but on the other hand, it sort of fits in my soon to be unveiled, “Shut the Fuck Up and Drive, You Have Nothing Interesting to Say, America!” campaign. Given the frequency with which people use their cell phones nowadays, I’m not sure if their primary objective while on the road is actually like, driving, or just talking on their fucking telephones. Teh Fan
I have a serious problem with that as that is exactly how the company I work for makes money. I mean, SOMEBODY has to provide the consumer the data, right? Actually, for just bread crumbing the roads, it's pretty much hands off. But for addressing, it's a vehicle and a lot top and a LOT of data entry. We do require our FDC's to do the data entry while stopped.
standenup
jersey has the worst driving laws. they just passed a law that all drivers under 21 have to be in by 11 and they'll identify you with reflective orange stickers on your car! yea!
The High Heat
jersey has the worst driving laws. Jersey has the worst drivers. Instead of a ton of laws, it would be more efficient to just have everyone sign a release of liability: "Folks, you're on your own. Good luck!"
standenup
haha we get where we want to go. everytime somebody is doing something dumb around here, chances are it has out of state plates.
isadorah
Jersey has the worst drivers. I dunno, I kinda think Delaware drivers are far worse than the Jersey drivers. I'm pretty sure that will still be the case when I venture up that way in a couple of weeks.

Perhaps they weren't anticipating entering the autobahn when they crossed the state line.
remphish1
I dunno, I kinda think Delaware drivers are far worse than the Jersey drivers. I'm pretty sure that will still be the case when I venture up that way in a couple of weeks. I would say top 5 worse from driving in each state several times are:1. Maryland (They slow down to about 1 mph to make any turn, even coming off a highway!)2. Pennsylvania (Clueless drivers...rapid or extremley slow lane changes)3. New York (Never any signals and very erratic)4. California (Too fast!!!)5. New Jersey (Insane with a me first attitude....good thing about NJ if they are going to cut you off they do it quickly and get out of the way!) Sure it is a generalization but this is from my expierence!
jenbobblehead
Have none of you ever driven in MA or RI?
remphish1
Have none of you ever driven in MA or RI? Yeah Mass drivers are bad too...maybe number 6...Connecticut and Florida should be on the list too!
bjorn_skurj
Massachusetts drivers are the worst.
Guest Speed Racer
Florida should be on the list too! Florida needs to have some sort of neon bright green license plate for rental cars and new residents of the state, to alert other drivers that those vehicles will consistently stop, swerve, make erratic u-turns and cross three lanes of traffic practically perpendicular to the road at any moment. Oh, and actually on-topic, if I had to make a pie chart of ways my mother would likely die, I'd have a 45% slice for Death by GPS While Driving.
isadorah
1. Maryland (They slow down to about 1 mph to make any turn, even coming off a highway!) completely agreed. here in DC if you have some bad driver get in your way driving around the city it is always, always a MD driver, not a VA or DC driver, ALWAYS MD. i'm still holding onto my dislike of DE drivers. maybe they will redeem themselves next weekend.
jenbobblehead
Certainly driving from VA through DC into MD I found that MD drivers were the worst. DC drivers, on the other hand would always give you a little wave when you did something nice like not cut them off. VA drivers just look right through you. Then cut you off. It is true, us DC drivers are very polite like that.
jenbobblehead
And as awful as RI drivers are, they will also give you a hand gesture (or two). Seriously, Virginia drivers just will not acknowledge when you do something nice for them. Don't even get me started on VA drivers of Priuses.
isadorah
Don't even get me started on VA drivers of Priuses. OMG they are in a category all unto themselves!!!!
bobbob1313
Miami should be the #1 city, and I think recently was ranked #1 in congestion and road rage.
The High Heat
i'm still holding onto my dislike of DE drivers. maybe they will redeem themselves next weekend.Delaware had a tremendous amount of housing growth in the late 90's and into the early part of this decade. The number of new roads was minimal and far below what's needed to match the population spurt. The problem may be overcrowded roads, not the drivers themselves. Of course, it is entirely possible that they do actually suck.

jenbobblehead
OMG they are in a category all unto themselves!!!!It so goes up my butt sideways that people bought Priuses (to complement their gigantic SUVs) just to ride in the HOV lane. Crazy making, that's what that is.
