brianjeremy
Man, I cannot get into that Brendan Benson album at all. His last two have hugely disappointed me. I love his first two albums with all of my heart though. NP:
solace
besides 2-3 songs (mostly the ones with the pastiche strings), i like this newest Brendan a LOT more than Alternative To Love One Mississippi will always be his best album in my book tho.
myboyblue
besides 2-3 songs (mostly the ones with the pastiche strings), i like this newest Brendan a LOT more than Alternative To Love One Mississippi will always be his best album in my book tho.I agree with this completely...with the exception of maybe 2 songs, I fucking love the new album. Also, if you haven't heard his Daytrotter session, please do so!
brianjeremy
Lapalco has the slight advantage over One Mississippi in my book. I'll have to give his new one a better listen. It always is harder for me to get into an album when I only have a digital copy. I've been scouring the used bin lately but have yet to find his new one.
solace
One Mississippi will always hold a huge place for me... i didn't get into it until '99, so when Lapalco FINALLY came out (after a 6 year gap between One Miss), i couldn't help but be let down. It eventually grew on me, but there's a few songs that are SO so cheesy (ie: You're Quiet) too. the opening trifecta of Tea->Birds Eye View->Sittin' Pretty alone makes One Miss an instant classic... you add in I'm Blessed, Crosseyed, Me Just Purely, Got No Secrets, Insects Rule, and Maginary Girl? forget about it. one of the best power pop albums of the last 2 decades imo
