I can't stop looking at vintage guitars online

Recommended Posts

Man, I need help. I am too good at rationalizing:

1. they will go UP in value! It's like an investment!

2. it will be in the family for generations! my son will love it!

3. I will sell one of my other guitars! (maybe!)

4. I dont spend my money on anything else!

5. There's a 7 day trial period! If I don't love it, I will send it back!

6. Guitars make me so happy!

7. I can't get the TONE I am looking for with my current crop!

Damn, the LAST thing I need is another guitar. Then why am I spending so much time looking at J45s from the 50s? 0-18s? Hummingbirds? Why am I "watching" ebay auctions for new J45s at $1300?!

(FWIW, the 7th in my list above is ridiculous. What sort of tone do I really need when I am sitting on my couch, ferchrissakes?!)

Thank you for listening. Back to rationalizing.

These are all good, I find myself using #4 quite a bit. I don't golf, I don't have a boat, I'm not an early adapter of electronics, why not buy a few guitars!

8. everyone at VC agrees with me so I can't be wrong!

#1 combined with #6. DO IT!! In this economy we need to look to other sources to invest our money. It always works for me.

Try a parlor guitar for sitting on the couch. Great tone and comfortable if you get the right one. I like mine, but it's just a Blueridge, so I doubt it will go up in value. Check out Froggy Bottom. Not vintage, but quite lovely.

Reason #9 - I don't want to be on my deathbed thinking, "I sure wish I would have sprung for that Gibson J-45".

I'll bet if you were on your deathbed and you gave your doctor your J-45 they might try a little harder to save your life.

But then you'd have to live without your J-45.

Damn, now that's a catch 22.

i am a bad window shopper when it comes to guitars. i know i dont need them and i shouldnt spend buccu bucks on them but i still like to look. i laughed when i read your list.

my vintage guitar online is a Gibson ES-335. the walnut version, but any style would suffice. but damn, they go for big bucks!

i would love to but i can't.
