Preferred B
These are pretty much all songs I loved as a kid. Good choices! I'll put in a plug for my very favorite song when I was three (your son may not be too old for it!): "Help Me, Rhonda" by the Beach Boys. I also fell in love with "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King when I was six. Still love it, actually.

They were one of my kids' favorite bands when they were around 4 and 5. It really is perfect music for kids that age: great melodies, high energy, simple structures. Just great rock 'n roll, really. Although, I don't think that your wife would appreciate you teaching your kid songs like "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "I Wanna Be Sedated", or "Beat On the Brat". So... be careful! LouieB
I was thinking that the other day. I wonder what the "Oldies" or "Classic Rock" stations will sound like in 30 years?Exactly the same.... Oldies will always be stuff from the 50s and early 60s and classic rock will still be the later 60s to 70s to maybe early 80s.. They will have to come up for some other name for the so called genres that are being played now. There are alternative stations playing stuff from 70s and 80s and 90s and there will be stations that play old school hip-hop, etc, or more likely there will be NO more radio in a few years. Oldies was an instant type of music. As soon as things changed with the music industry in the 60s, the music of the 50s and early 60s instantly turned into oldies. There have been oldies stations for decades and they play pretty much the same thing, with only a small amount of updating. People like Chuck Berry, Little Richard and such were nostalgia acts by the early 60s. LouieB
jff
more likely there will be NO more radio in a few years. LouieB There's no chance of that. Radio will always be around. How else are you going to find out about all the amazing rebates at your local car lot while you're driving to work? Even if commercial radio proves to be a financial loser, colleges will not give up their radio stations any time soon. And if/when they do give up on it, the hobbyists will take over. That means radio is likely heading into another golden age. I hope I live to hear it.
LouieB
Actually as far as I can tell the college radio stations are about all that is happening these days. LouieB
