A Request of Great Import

Recommended Posts

Greetings fine citizens of Via Chicago, I am currently working on a music collage project and I would like to hear your opinions/suggestions of the greatest usage of the phrase "what do you want" in music history. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated, thanks for your help.

Hmmm. Interesting. On U2's Zooropa & Zoomerang tour they used to have an opening intro that had the repeat of the phrase "what do you want?" mixed in with the Beastie Boys' "What'cha want".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMneYa8gJBY

It starts at about 2:45. Unfortunately, there is no video of that actual performance on youtube. The video that I did find is a collage itself, but at a certain point it uses the audio and video from the mentioned performance.

Not a bad piece to use to at the beginning.

Trivia: If you watched the whole video, you may be trying to place where you heard "Johnson!!" before. I'm sure a certain set of people will easily recall that instantly.

"Box of Rain," GD:

Look out of any window

any morning, any evening, any day

Maybe the sun is shining

birds are winging or

rain is falling from a heavy sky -

What do you want me to do,

to do for you to see you through?

Alices Restaurant has 2:

"And I said, "Obie, I can understand you wanting my

wallet so I don't have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you

want my belt for?" And he said, "Kid, we don't want any hangings."

"I walked in, walked in sat down after a whole big thing there,

and I walked up and said, "What do you want?" He said, "Kid, we only got

one question. Have you ever been arrested?"

The phrase ("What do you want?") is also spoken repeatedly as the song (and album) Zooropa swells to life.

Wow, good eye. That's quite close to exactly what I want.
