chriscolbert
I did a search for this and didn't see anything, so I apologize if this has been covered. I was in Best Buy earlier this week and saw that they had their exclusive "deluxe version" of the new Jimmy Eat World CD on sale for $6.99. It appears that this version has four extra tracks and one of them is a cover of "You and I". I honestly didn't even know it until it started playing that track because I tend to still buy CDs at that price and never even looked at the tracklisting. It's a boring standard note-for-note cover, but I just thought it was strange that they covered and recorded such a recent song.
cryptique
Ugh, I just listened to this. Bleah. Note-for-note, but it's an acoustic guitar instead of a full band (some more instruments enter in the last thirty seconds or so, but no bass or drums). I have no idea who the female singer is. A mediocre song made worse by someone else.
Moss
In case anyone else wants to listen to it, I'm also not impressed. Didn't realize Jimmy Eat World were Wilco fans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pnxo1UWIhuU
Shakespeare In The Alley
Not any better or worse than Wilco's version, really. Jimmy Eat World's a solid band. But I haven't check out the new one yet. Cool to see they like Wilco.
Magnetized
In case anyone else wants to listen to it, I'm also not impressed. Didn't realize Jimmy Eat World were Wilco fans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pnxo1UWIhuU Jeez, what a fiasco. They messed up the lyrics (I can never tell/you're the deepest well I've ever fallen into) And if they're Wilco fans, ya gotta wonder why they used an old band photo with a previous lineup. I may be in the minority, but I actually like this song for what it is--a simple falling in love song--but NOT this version.

TCP
Ha! I use to be a big Jimmy Eat World fan when I was about 14/15. I heard their new single on the radio the other day and thought it was Linkin Park... anyways.. I don't understand the point of covering a song like that and not doing anything different with it. Just seems a little lazy, don't it? But hey, sometimes all it takes is a cover like this to introduce younger fans to a bands like Wilco. I recall something similar when I first heard Weezer's Velouria.
Guest Hollinger.
The cover came from her being at a show and they wanted her to do a duet with them. They thought it sounded good, so they recorded a version of it.
Via Harvard
This is terrible. I used to be a fan a few years back but they lost me after Clarity. I cannot for the life of me understand covering songs that are so recent. This shows Jimmy Eat World have no creativity. Blaaaargh...

Sir Stewart
What is the point of this cover? "Let's do a cover of that Wiico/Feist song so our version can be on in Lowe's at the same time their version is on in Home Depot."
Guest Speed Racer
Oh wow, I listened to it for the first time. It's like they took the decent guitar playing, decent singing, and decent affect, and tried to make it terrible. And it worked!
