lizish
Paul - sorry - no. I would love to go, but vacation this year is to the cottage and only the cottage. We're redoing a kitchen in a month and I spent all extra money on this thing: For the money it better sound as sweet as a Tweedy solo show. but I wanna ask, the premier Southern Ontario Festival is Hillside: http://www.hillsidefestival.ca/#/home/ I have a better chance of making that. They have not released their performers yet, but I'm expecting something equally as great as the 'One Great City' festival. BTW - saw John Samson on the weekend. He said the song 'Heart of the Continent' was only written because the city changed its slogan and he had to write another song.

bobfrombob
Hopefully this bodes well for Jeff to appear at Ottawa Bluesfest, which is running at the same time.

A lot of the same people playing the WFF are already rumoured to be playing Bluesfest, Blue Rodeo, M. Ward etc.

We're redoing a kitchen in a month and I spent all extra money on this thing: I figured it was a long shot, but I had to try. Nice fridge, though! One of these days, I guess (he said, shaking his fist...)
lizish
Hillside just got announced today. Good, but underwhelming when compared to fucking Winnipeg. I hate Winnipeg. http://www.hillsidefestival.ca/#/performers
bobfrombob
I don't think Hillside will ever surpass the year with Arcade Fire, Weakerthans, Josh Ritter, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Hidden Cameras. 2005? I think a lot of the local folkies hated that year but it was a magic weekend.
lizish
yeah agree. I certainly love that it contains artists like Dan Mangan, Basia Bulat and One Hundred Dollars, which will be fantastic to see, but there is nobody on the list that's a big tent draw - like a Tweedy or an M. Ward. I think the Folkies have accepted that things will never be the same again.
